In my area it's normal to have them on either day. Both my showers were/are on a Sunday afternoon. Ppl can go to church, sleep in, etc, attend the shower and still be home in time for dinner.

I hate Sunday showers. Sunday is my day before I have to go back to work, where I relax and get things done around the house. A shower always feels like an inconvenience on Sundays, because I feel like I need to be doing other things to prepare for the week. Saturday is more my fun day, for shopping, parties, etc., and most showers I go to on Saturdays end up with people making plans to continue on later (bring the guys over or whatnot). It just feels more festive to me.
I know some might disagree, but this is just MY feeling. I know there's nothing wrong with a Sunday shower.

I have only been to Saturday (or weekday) showers, since Sunday is usually more reserved for church and family time. But, this would obviously depend on your social circle, and I don't see anything implicitly wrong with a Sunday shower.
I had all my showers on Saturdays. I had some out of town guests, so this gave them time to travel and get back home in time for the work week. I also like to reserve my Sundays for church and family time before the work weeks starts. Most showers I go to are on Saturdays. I guess it really just depends on your family and circle of friends and what is typically done. Are you having a lot of out of town guests?
I'm used to Sunday showers! They are scheduled at a time of day that doesn't conflict w/ church.
I've been to Saturday showers, but the timing is REALLY important to me - I don't like late in the day showers because we usually have plans later on. I prefer earlier showers unless it's planned, like the one PP said, to kind of "continue" afterwards and other people (the guys) come over.

I've been invited to showers on both days, so either is fine and I'm sure no one would think twice. As a guest, I personally prefer Saturday, because Sunday is when I like to relax before having to go to work the next day. I don't really like having to spend several hours of my Sunday at a shower. But that is just me.
If you decide on a Sunday, I would suggest making it 1:00 or later....some folks like me don't get home from church until around 12:30ish.
Most showers I've been to have been on Saturdays but I have been to a couple of Sunday showers. Last year I went to two separate showers for my SIL during the same weekend - one on Saturday and one on Sunday because she was visiting from out of town.
I say Saturday, because as PP have said, Sunday is my relaxing and family and getting stuff done day... Also, I really like the idea of having the shower continue later where more people come over.
