Hello everyone!
It's been awhile since I have looked at any posts, but I decided to come here for baby name help. My husband and I have been going back and forth between the name Gracie or Adelaide for our first daughter. We are keeping the name a surprise from family, so can't ask any of them. I thought I would come here and see if anyone had any opionons on the names that they were willing to share!
Thank you and best wishes to everyone!
Re: 35 wks and still deciding on name
Maybe you will decide once you meet your baby.
DH and I are going that route. We have a few names that we like and will choose a name based on how we feel when we meet the baby.
I like Gracie better, but agree with others that it seems like a little immature for her when she gets older. One pp said that she couldn't picture an older woman with this name, but I think that's rather subjective. I mean, there are a lot of names that older women today have (Patricia, Gertrude, etc) that I can't picture any young kid having (of course, they did at some point).
I like the suggestion of saving both until your LO is born and making a decision once you meet her.
Have a few options going in. There's no need to have The Final Name chosen before you even see your baby. My mom had chosen Victoria for my name, but as soon as she saw me she had to change it because I just didn't look like a Victoria to her.
My husband and I are developing 'short lists' of about 5 or 6 names we can agree on and will go in open to change.
I totally agree with this on all points.
And we're another couple who're bringing a short-list of names in to the hospital to decide between once we meet the baby.
We want to get it down to three names per sex, since we're Team Green; we're almost there, at four each!

I absolutely love the name Adelaide.
I still go back and forth on names too. I can't tell you how many times I've thought I for sure had one picked out.
Adelaide. One of the doctors I work with has a daughter named Adelaide (Addie for short) and she is simply the cutest, most outgoing and chipper little kid I have ever met.... besides my little Piper :0)
We're 80% decided on a name, but we're not committing to it 100% until we meet the baby.
Im not a big fan of Adelaide, but I think thats just bc its a major street in our city, so thats hard to get past. I like Grace, but not Gracie as a full name.
Adelaide! I think it's beautiful and unique. Grace is a pretty name too, but kind of overdone. And I agree with PPs that Gracie just sounds like a cute nickname.
If you don't have a middle name chosen yet, you could always go with Adelaide Grace.
Does anyone like the combination of Grace and Lynn to Gracelynn, or does that just sound too weird?
Thanks!
Dislike. Grace Lynn as a full name is nice, but I really don't like names made up of two names smooshed together.
