Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Ever since becoming a mom...

I have this weird new... fear, I guess, every time I get into the car w/ DD and drive someplace. It's ridiculous, I wish I'd cut it out. I'm afraid someone will hit us, or we'll fly off of a cliff (What?!), or spin out of control (it's not even raining yet...) etc. I usually remind myself to cut it out, but it's always kind of in the back of my head :|

Anyone else gain any 'new' paranoias or fears after becoming a mom? I really hate feeling this way, I hope I can chill out!! I love driving so it's really annoying.

  • This is so me.  I hate driving with DS in the car.  I don't even go that many places with him either.

  • I also have terrible fears in the car when my kids are with me.  It sucks.
  • I hate it, but I'm also glad I'm not alone here.
  • Ha ha, I lived in Berkeley in my 20's, and used to fear driving off a cliff even though I had no baby!

I always fear tripping and falling with her.

  • We'll driving in Cali will lead you to thinking about flying off a cliff! Not cool. I have all kinds of effed up morbid paranoias cuz really sh*t does happen, I just hope it doesn't happen to me. That's pretty much all I can do and of course be a cautious driver.

  • For me, it's not driving...but I have a serious fear of burglary and/or kidnapping.  I check the locks to the house numerous times a day even though I know they are locked and we live in a safe neighborhood.

  • You are actually lucky that you don't have to deal with the snow.  It barely snowed here last week and I was driving like 20 miles below the speed limit.  I was so scared.  Oh and DS wasn't even in the car yet. lol.

Ahh so you must know about my infamous highway - 17. I have to drive over that at least once a week (used to do a daily commute for work before SAH...). When DD is in the car on Hwy 17 I'm soooo paranoid :)

This is me all the way.  Total fear of kidnapping.  I check the locks all the time, and the windows.

Also, I have a weird fear of DD falling on her head, and I worry when I'm driving, too.

  • I have a fear of falling down the steps with him... every morning when we go downstairs I see us toppling in my head- I am sure this has everything to do with the fact that we did fall down the stairs once but the fear was there long before it actually happened

  • YES!!!!  It's started to snow here, and I was driving so very slow...I felt like I was 80.  I'm glad I'm not the only one!
