So I get a bill in the mail today for Grayson's premature birth. It was in excess of $700. I called and give them the insurance information for my work insurance as well as the Medicaid isurance that I was eligible due to my income and such. The Dr's office that delivered my son states they will not take the Medicaid because it is a secondary insurance and that they wont put it as primary because they want their money!!! I did NOT chose to have my son early, I did NOT chose to have him delivered by a DR that I didn't know at all. I can't understand why I am now going to have to pay for something out of pocket that is COVERED!!!
Sorry had to vent!!
Re: insurance companies..
You can submit the claim directly to Medical Assitance. Call them directly they should be able to give you more info on where to send the bill to get it paid.
You doctor can't "refuse" it after the fact. And if they actually do except Medical Assitance what they said to you and their refusal to take care of it is a violation. I would speak to an office manager or the doctor themselves and let them know if they don't submit the bill to them you will and you'll also let the insurance know what's going on.
It sucks, we are still dealing with all the crap with insurances etc.
