Heartbeat 98 at 5W6d

Hi all,

I had an ultrasound today at 5w6d since i was spotting for a few days, so the doc wanted to make sure that all is fine.

All was good i saw my baby thumping away on the screen, but a small bump was the heartbeat was 98. According to the ultrasound technician it should be between 100 and 110 at this point. but he said not to worry, it may get strong day by day.

Was concerned so posting here. Did this happen with somebody else?

Also it was measuring to size about 3mm. The technician said it is measuring correct size to the week and day number.

I didn't experience this, but my doctor wouldn't do an ultra sound until I was at least 7 weeks (saying that sometimes it can be difficult to even hear the heartbeat before that).

Its still pretty early in your pregnancy, so I wouldn't worry yet--especially since everything else looked good.

It may have just started, and I'm pretty sure I read that they start at 85 bpm and the rate increases over the next few weeks. I wouldn't worry too much, it is pretty amazing that you even saw the HB!

I wouldn't worry about it. The HR is so close to the range that you want it to be in and you're so early that I wouldn't be concerned. U/S at this stage is accurate for dating to +/- 1-3 days depending on the technician and technology. So you may be earlier than you're measuring and at this point, a day or two really can make a difference for HR. Congrats on seeing the heartbeat! That's exciting!

I had an u/s on Tuesday and measured 6w4d, which I was supposed to be. The HR was in the low 90's. My Dr. talked to me and said by 7 weeks they like to see it at least in the 120's and that at this point, the pregnancy could go either way, she's seen both. I'm going back in on Tuesday for a follow up u/s. This week has been the longest of my life and I'm constantly praying for a strong heart beat for the baby and that I won't see blood every time I go to the bathroom. It absolutely sucks.

Is your dr. having you do a follow up u/s at any point? I would ask for one just to calm your nerves in maybe a week or two. The waiting is the worst. The absolute worst.
