Horrible amnio- almost lost baby :(

I went in for my amnio Tuesday to check the lung maturity for my little guy as I have type 1 diabetes and my numbers are getting further and further from my target. When they drew the fluid out, it had blood in it and my little guy started to go bazerk. The next thing I know, his heart rate all but stopped and they rushed me to the hospital mentally preparing me on the way for an emergency c section the minute we walked in the door because they needed to get baby out now. I spent the 15 minutes between the amnio and the hospital thinking I had lost my little boy. Once they hooked me up to the monitors, they were able to find his heart beat. I layed and cried and cried listening to the thump thump thump and praying like hell that it continued. They kept me overnight in l&d so they could monitor him. Baby seems to have recovered and is moving like normal now but holy sh!t, that was the scariest 20 minutes I have ever experienced. I have no control over what happens while he's inside and I will not/cannot relax until my boy is out and in my arms. I'm still freaked out :( because of all this, they scheduled my induction for Wednesday at 38 weeks. It cannot come fast enough...

  • I'm so glad you still have him!  I can't imagine how scary that must have been.  Just think, you only have 1 week until he's in your arms!  GL!

  • I lost my breath reading this post. I am so, SO sorry you had to go through that! Yikes!! I am so glad LO is recovering alright. Sending good vibes your way for your induction. I was induced at 38w4d (he came 38w5d--he failed the NST, and I was off to be induced) and it was such a wonderful experience. Near the "picture perfect" delivery. I only pushed 10 minutes with an epidural. Not all inductions are scary!

    Good luck!

The doctor at the hospital said the MFM doc "thinks" he may have gotten the placenta which I think is extremely unlikely as they went in down towards my pelvic bone and my placenta is at the top of my uterus.  I'm wondering if they got the baby since they had said at one point he had moved into the space they were working in.  I go back to the MFM today for another BPP so hopefully they'll give me more answers.  It makes me even more nervous now because there is blood in the amniotic fluid that baby is swallowing and "breathing" in when he does his practice breathing.
