Diva Cup Users (probably TMI)

I bought my Diva Cup a couple of months ago and have used it for 2 cycles. I love everything about it except the fact that it wont stay in! It doesnt leak, it is just always sticking out. I cut the stem completely off and no matter how far I shove it up there, the minute I start walking it starts falling out. I'm leaving for the dells tomorrow morning fro DDs 3rd birthday and of course I got AF today. I want to be able to wear my Diva Cup but I'm afraid I'll be having to stop every 5 minutes to shove it up further. Anyway, I'm 21 years old and had 1 c-section and one vaginal birth is there anyway it might be too big (I have a size 2)? I followed the size chart when I bought this one, but I think I might need a size 1. I just don't want to order a size 1 and then have it be too small. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anything else I can do to try to get it to stay in?

Also, please don't flame me for being 21 and having 2 kids. I normally don't state my age but I needed to include it to get advice.

Re: Diva Cup Users (probably TMI)

  • Well I have one kid by C/S and I am wearing the same size 1 cup that I was wearing before pregnancy.  Are you absolutely positively sure you have it up far enough. You should have it far up there like a tampon where you are not able to "feel" it.  It should not be close to the outside.

Why would anyone flame you?? Don't be insecure about that. As long as you are a great mom - who cares what anyone else thinks!

That's all I have. Diva Cups freak me out but fascinate me at the same time so I always read the posts. hahaha. Good luck! I hope you find your answer!

It is way up there completely covering my cervix when I insert it. I'm not able to feel it until I start walking around. It seems fine if I'm sitting but as soon as I stand up or walk, it starts making it's way down.

I think there is a Size 3 isnt there?  Sorry I cant remember mine is 2 yrs old.  Try a size 3 or try a differnt brand.  If it is not staying up I would venture to guess it is too small not too big.

Thanks! I always feel weird telling people who I don't know me IRL my age because I always feel like they judge me. I'm married, we own our house, and I've never left my children with a baby sitter so thats something I always try to explain to people.

You should try the Diva Cup! I love the fact that I don't have to haul tampons with me everywhere!

There's only a size 1 and a size 2. I guess I might just have to deal with it falling out. It's still working properly, its just annoying having to always push it back up.

Try contacting the manufacturer.  I could not deal with it slipping down all the time.  Also xp this on the Green Living board on The Nest. A lot of Diva Cup users are on there and may be better help.

OMG I am dying over here!

OP: I was going to ask if you feel or hear the suction happen. I used to use a Keeper Cup and that was part of the instructions. If it's suctioned and still slips, I'd try a different brand.

Haha, thanks for the laugh! I actally love my Diva Cup except for the fact that it wont stay up around my cervix. Yes, it is still suctioned even when I pull it out, I don't understand why it won't stay up! I'm debating on whether I should buy a size 1 or just try a different brand. I didn't know there was another brand until you posted this, I'm going to check it out! Thanks!

Dont try the size one.  its smaller.  significantly.  Try a differnt brand.  I think they are 3 in the US.

  • I'm 23 and have 2 kids and i'm not married (SO and I have been together for almost 7 years but can't get married yet)! I don't think you should feel like you need to explain yourself to anyone. You take care of your kids then it is nobody's business if you are "old enough" to have two kids. Also SO and I wanted kids younger ( we didn't plan our first) so we could enjoy them and our hopefully one day grand kids.

As for the diva cup I have no clue what it is and I am about to go google!!

Thanks, you just made me feel better about myself! I'm glad to know that there are (no offense to anyone) younger people on this board. I never noticed that before!

  • Well I'm 24 have had one c-section and I ordered the size 2 b/c I ordered it when babysteals had it. Maybe i'm not inserting it right but it isn't comfortable AT ALL! Now i'm kind of afraid to try it again! I'm also thinking about ordering the size 1 but i'm not sure where to order from.
  • one trick I learned-- when you are putting it in, push down- like when you were giving birth-- or like you are popping a tampon out (hope I'm not the only one with this skill). suction it around your cervix when you are pushing down the hardest, then "let go"- stop pushing, and push it up as your cervix goes back up-- then do the turning thing.

    Good luck!

I haven't tried this yet! Next time I go to empty it, I will try this! Hope it works! Thanks!

I bought mine from baby steals as well, but I'm pretty sure Amazon sells them. Did you watch any youtube videos? Those helped me. Now it's comfortable when it's in, up until it starts falling out!

  • I'm kind of late to this party, but when I first started using the Diva I had the same problem. It took several cycles for it to feel right. I did kegels with the Diva in to help it stay up better and eventually it felt great.

I haven't researched menstrual cups in a while, but when I was first looking into them, I remember reading that the Diva was one of the bigger cups on the market, so you may have trouble finding a bigger one. It's definitely something you could try, though. I hope it ends up working for you!
