Early arrival...birth story

Alexander Michael arrive 12-21-11 at 5:25 pm, 5 week early.

I got up at 1 am to go to the bathroom and was wet. I told my husband that I think my water broke, but that there was no mucus. He said that I must have peed myself. I was really hoping he was right as odd as that sounds. I seemed to get up every 3 hours and every time I did I would get a rush of water. At about 9 am I saw mucus and called the OB. They set me up at the local hospital to check to see if the liquid was urine or amniotic fluid. I arrived at the hospital at 10 am and they confirmed that it was amniotic fluid and that I was 2 cm dilated. By noon I was 4 cm dilated and by 2pm I was 6 cm dilated.  After that it moved very very fast. Overall it was a very easy birth. I really can't complain. The only thing that was odd was all the doctors in the room waiting for the baby. I meet 5 doctors while I was in active labor. Xander went straight to the NICU and was on a respirator for three days. Currently, he is off the respirator, IV, and medication. Now all he needs to do is stay awake during his feeds and he can come home. We hope he will be home by next week.
