Spotting when period was due- 4 and 8 weeks?

Hey Everyone! After weeks of no spotting, I woke up in the middle of the night with cramping and very light amount of bright red spotting. Its similar to what I had four weeks ago. Google tells me that it can be hormonal and that some people get it around the time their period was due until the placenta takes over. Just wanted to see if this actually happened to anyone else! Today it has turned to brown and is not very much. The cramping has stopped too. It was just such a surprise to see it after it had been weeks. Luckily, we saw a perfect little gummy bear at our ultrasound on Tuesday so I am not overly worried, more just curious if anyone has had this same experience.

    Did you get an internal u/s? If so its very very common to get some spotting afterwards.

    I was wondering about the internal u/s as well.  I think I would give your OB's office a call just for peace of mind.  It's always a good idea to let them know if you have any bleeding.

    Thanks Ladies! I hadnt thought I had read much about that theory on here. It has stopped, if it starts back up- I will give them a call! Thanks!
