Success after IF

Ok ladies, need Christening planning advice!

So, the christening is next month. The party is at a restaurant and will be a sit down luncheon. There are a lot of families coming so that means lots of kids! The age range will be 2-14. I plan on having a kid's table. Do you think I should do seating arrangements for the adults or just let them sit wherever? Looking at about 55-60 adults. Next, should I have something available for the younger kids to do? Like crafts, coloring books etc? If yes, any suggestions for a non messy type of thing I could have them do?

Thanks for your thoughts!

  • Holy cow, that's a lot of people!!  Sounds like a ton of fun ;)

I don't think this really answers your question, but I'll throw it out there (sorry if it offends!) - my son will be 2 in March, and I would not be comfortable with him sitting at a kids table.  I'd want him right between DH and me ;) - and, yes, something to color with/ on, books, puzzles, or etc. are always appreciated (I usually have a few such things in my diaper bag, but I'm sure not everyone does).

Maybe I misunderstood what you said about this and, again, I'm sorry if this upsets you. . . sounds like an awesome time, regardless!!

  • Aww, sounds like fun!

I would probably set up a kids' table for the older kids (the younger ones will probably sit with their parents, I would guess).  I'm sure coloring sheets and crayons would be a hit -- you can print sheets off some websites (familyfun.go.com is one) and make copies.  Paper on the table that they can color on would be good, too, if the restaurant is willing.  If you're worried about mess, maybe pick up a few packs of Color Wonder markers and paper?

Not offended at all!!! That makes sense! Maybe 2 is a little young for a kids table, you're right...but maybe like for the school aged kids?

And yes its a ton of people, so ridiculous...but between our families and close friends it added up quickly!!!

  • I agree that kids table should only be for older kids.  I would definitely print up some coloring pages and bring crayons in case the restaurant doesn't have any.  Maybe even print up some religious themed pages to go with the day.

  • Not sure how much time you have for running around, but the dollar store had lots of Catholic/Christian coloring books and stickers last year at Easter, but I think they might be available all year long.  Or maybe already on display, haha!
