1st appt was not what I expected! whine

I just got back from my 1st apt and I was sad that I didn't get an ultrasound or get to hear the heart beat as the doc said it was too early.... She said to come back in 3 weeks but man the wait for this appt seemed like it took forever. I will be ok. Just will count the days till January 27th. Ok whine over.

Same thing just happened to me too, you arent the only one! He could tell I was disappointed, but said it was just too early, and we would do it at next visit.

I had to wait too, and then on the day of my first u/s they called and had to reschedule me. I go in on Tuesday though so hopefully everything is okay. I hate waiting!!

She felt my uterus and said it felt good, just a little big, and she said everything seemed good. I just wanna know my bean is safe in there. I will be ok though. Although she told me no waterslides on my trip to WI Dells next weekend, but I guess that is to be expected. Big Smile

I'm interested to know why he said it was too early? With my last we were able to hear the heartbeat via doppler at 8 weeks on the dot. Maybe it's not a guarantee?

I had the same sort of first appointment. I go back 1/24 for my NT scan and heartbeat. I totally understand how you feel. It's hard not knowing for sure that everything is ok but you just have to believe it is. There is nothing more you can do!

Meaknigh- I think a lot of places wait because it can't always be found this early and they don't want to scare the mom if they cannot find it. My OB won't even try to hear it until 11-12 weeks for that reason.

Yeah, I have seen others post that there is no guaruntee and I know with my son we couldn't find a heart beat early on but when we need the ultrasound he was there just fine. I am also on the larger side so maybe its harder to hear?? I don't know but at least I only have to wait 3 weeks to go back!

Sorry it wasn't what you expected.. My first appointment I will be a few days short of 9 weeks and I'm hoping she will try to listen but I have a feeling she will probably say its too early.. = (

Funny how impatient we can be when it comes to being pregnant!

My Dr. wont even see me till around 12 weeks. Its a long wait but I will get my u/s at my first appointment.
