Can someone help me with a question. I found out I am pregnant today. I am SO excited. I had severe preeclampsia with my first LO. So now that I'm on my second pregnancy... Will they see me sooner than the regular 9 weeks? Will there be extra tests? I assume I will be high risk. I just kind of would like to know what to ask/request or expect when I call tomorrow or the next day to make an appointment. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Re: Question for Preeclampsia Moms
I had pre-e with my son which lead to him being delievered at 30 weeks a year ago. I am currently pregnant with baby #2 and was told by my dr that I won't be considered high risk until I start showing signs of high bp before 20 weeks and after 20 weeks I will be considered high risk and will see my OBGYN once a week starting at 26 weeks. We are hoping to make it to 35 weeks and stay of of bed rest until atleast 32 weeks. I monitor my bp at home and record it for my dr.
My dr did do a full work up of labs on my kidneys and liver to make sure there was not any significant damage to my organs from having pre-e. I also did a 24 hour urine test to get a baseline of the level of my protein in my urine. I would tell your dr office when you call that you had pre-e and see what they say. From what I have read and been told, pre-e isn't diagnoised until after 20 weeks (on rare occasions it can be diagnoised before but its not common). I have read other posts that moms with pre e have had extra ultrasounds to check the development of the placenta and extra blood work to check for clotting disorders but my dr told me they didn't do any of that.
Best of luck!
Well, I don't know how it will be the next time I get pregnant (if I do) but I started out my pregnancy with Reagan with chronic high blood pressure. So, I automatically was considered "high risk". I did a base line 24 hour urine at 20 weeks and then had I think one a month. I ended up doing 3 total (that counts the one in the hospital that was 1900!). I also got ultrasounds once a month to check growth starting at 20 weeks. Apparently, HBP can cause IUGR. I never made it to the point of weekly appointments. So, I'm not sure how that will go.
If I do get pregnant again, I will make sure that I'm followed my MFM and my regular OB.
Good luck! I'm sure that will do a lot more this time to monitor you closely. Don't be afraid to ask LOTS of questions.
