Mom shot an intruder...

Ok - so you have to watch this video - it was on Yahoo today - this 18 year old mom shot a guy for breaking into her house (GO HER!!!!!) And sadly it was on new years eve, right after her husband died on christmas? So sad - but I think that the best comment in the video went something like "there is nothing more dangerous than a mom of a baby." She was totally justified according to the law, and it does say that she thought she was being stalked by one of the men, but what I wonder is, did she report the possible stalking prior to the break in?

wow, thats so scary. We don't have guns in the house (much less common here I think then many places in the US). But let me tell you I would do ANYTHING to protect my child. I can't imagine being in that position.

A friend of mine posted this on FB. I don't support keeping a gun in the home, but this really made me think. I can't even imagine what might have happened to her and her son. It's pretty awful that the police still hadn't arrived after 20 minutes though.

We are gun people. Both my husband and I have our permits too. And this is one of the reasons we have them, if anyone breaks in, sorry but we shoot to kill

This is such a sad story considering she had just gone through so much already with losing her husband. DH and I are also gun people....I couldn't tell you how many guns we have in our house. DH is a police officer - so that kind of adds to it. He has made sure that I know how to shoot each and every one of them just in case something were to happen and I needed to use them.

ETA: this is totally irreleveant to the story - and really doesn't matter --- but did anyone else notice how old the photo of her husband looks?? It looked like a high school photo from the 70s.

Go her!!! I would have done the same thing. DH and I are gun people. They are all stored very safely in the house, but there are many of them and we both know how to use them. If it came down to protecting my family, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot.

Us too. We have a few handguns in the house for this exact reason. If someone breaks into our house....they chose the wrong house.

I'm glad she's not getting charged and I'm sorry for her loss but I'm more than a little grossed out by the age difference. I just read an article that says her husband was 58. She's 18. Ick!

He could have been her dad.

I would've done the SAME THING! Anyone trying to get into my house first has to make it past my dogs, then me with our little armory (several handguns and a shotgun), before they'd even get close to my kids!
