I know, right? They actually canceled school in some GA counties today because it was cold. My ds was so excited that it was sunny today so he could play outside at school but it's 22 degrees so that won't happen.

Per the last newsletter, here (upstate ny) they don't go out below 20 degrees (but it also said windchill matters). I'm glad it's not 0, yikes! That's even too cold for me. My daughter was shivering today just walking from the car to the school- eeek (and it's 19 here).
No cut off. I hate it. Cut off should be 40, it's just so cold. They do bundle them up. But I hate being at work thinking about DD playing in the cold.

At DS's preschool, I think it is 0. They get super bundled up and just go outside for a little bit. The public schools have a higher temperature minimum I think. 40 sounds so absurd to me, I wouldn't even wear a winter jacket in 40 degree weather. It is interesting how different it is!
My DS is only in a private preschool that only goes to Kindergarten but today was 29 and they were outside playing. There have been some days they have not gone out b/c it was too cold but I think it was the teachers using an excuse b/c I don't think those days were under 30. No snow or rain obviously.

At DS's MMO its 40*.... Which is funny, because 40* for me is hardly worth putting a coat on. I'm not sure at DD's Elementary school, But I make sure she has a warm coat and gloves just in case.
The mornings tend to be cold and I have to remind DD to make sure she brings home her coat, b/c by the time she gets off the bus, it's usually too warm to be wearing it.
I think it is in the low 20's here but not positive. Ithink it has more to do with whether the teachers want to stand otside with them...lol
I do know if a child does not have outerwear they are not allowed out with the other children.
I think it's just because we are in the south where 40 degrees is considered artic. They are all required to have coats, hats and gloves in their bags all winter.

As per the most recent parent newsletter, there wasn't a temperature cutoff. Just that "if weather permits", they would continue to go outside. (which I assume is low winds and now blowing snow).
I have no clue. It was in the 20's here near Tampa today and I had to fight my DD to layer. I finally told her to go to school in her freaking bathing suit. She finally got dressed.
Re: What's your school temperature cutoff for outdoor play?

This! At below 40 degrees, kids are required to have jackets, hats and gloves to go outside. They only time they stay in is sub zero temps or rain.

I think it's 0.

I don't know. It was -23c when I dropped the kids off this morning, windchill -32c or so.
I expect they will get outside at least once today.

Ditto this! I know that the temperature for cancelling school is ridiculous too - way negative for a certain amount of time before they cancel school.

It's a good thing we're not moving to Vermont.
