TTC After a Loss

Provera after Miscarriage?

I am new to the board and was hoping someone could help. I miscarried in October, had D&E on halloween and then a second D&E on November 14th because there was retained tissue. I still haven't had a visit from AF, they took my HCG on Dec. 22 and it was at 7 and just took it again today. The Doc prescribed me Provera to "jump start" my system. Has anyone else been prescribed Provera? We want to try again soon and I am not sure if it will negatively affect anything.

  • I know there are women on here who have started meds to "jump start" their systems, I just have no experience. Your doctor should be able to tell you how it will affect your system in the near future in regards to TTC.

I wanted to pass along my welcome and I hope you don't have to stay here long.

    (((hugs)))

  • Thank you for the welcome. I am sorry that ANYONE has to be here but am grateful for the place to talk to people who know what I am feeling. If I hear "well you're young (27)...you can try again" one more time I might punch someone.

Thats rough.  Age doesnt seem to matter.  This board ranges from early 20s to 40s

  • Welcome to the board I am sorry for your loss. I have used provera several times because I have wonky cycles (before and after my loss) I haven't had any problems with it. I hope that it helps for you. The first time I took it for 10 days and started AF about a week after that. The second time It started the day after I took my last pill, the last time it only took me one pill before she showed. The only negative thing I can think of it that it did make me quite moody and short tempered but AF does that to me anyway. GL.

  • I'm sorry you're here, but welcome to the board! I don't have any advice for you, just do some research online and ask your doc a little more if you're still worried about it.
  • Thanks everyone!

  • Sorry for your loss.  I've taken it twice.  The first time I took it, I took the 10 days worth of pills and my cycle still didn't start so I was told to take it again the following month.  The second month, my cycle started 5'ish days into it.  I ended up getting pregnant following that cycle.  I then took it again after my MC.  I took the pills for 10 days again and was again told to wait and see if AF starts.  If it didn't start within 35 of the first day of taking the pill to take another 10 days worth.  Lucky for me, AF showed up right at 35 days.  My cycles have been pretty regular since, which has never ever been the case for me, pre or post pregnancies.  Hope this helps.  Good luck!
