Parenting after 35

On a lighter note...I know nothing about boys!

I was raised by my mom.  I have two sisters.  Most of the babysitting I did was for girls.  It just worked out that way.

So when my DS peed directly on his face this morning all I could so was scream and call for my DH.  He came in, expecting to find the worse I'm sure, but ended up doubling over in laughter (probably relief). He was no help at all!

Im not sure who was more traumatized by this event...me or DS

Lol. Boys are such a mystery to me :)

  • You made it this far without pee-face?!  You're a better mom than me (day 1...and 2, possibly 3 - and several days since then!).

The funniest one is when my 16 year old DS came running in the room shouting "Bubba PEED ON MY HEAD!!" then running down the hall stripping off his clothes, headed for the shower.  I'm pretty sure I wet my pants laughing.

  • Hahaha...

I'm an only child and have always had more guy friends than girlfriends, but baby boys I've been kind of clueless about. The best advice I have to offer is to take little boy things  as they come. Peeing in the bath(or on their face) and playing with their junk is really just a prelude to fart jokes, if you think about it Wink

  • Well, there's peeing on HIS face, peeing on YOUR face, peeing on the wall, peeing in the bath, and peeing all over the changing table.  DS now laughs at his loud farts and he's one.  Yes, it starts that early.  The fun of boys!

  • DS has peed on his own face, peed on DH's face, peed on my hand, peed on the wall?but he's nearly 2.5 now and MY face has escaped the pee. lol

But he does laugh at farts and whenever he hears a fart-like noise, he says "DADDY!"

  • Yeap, been there:) In my family there have always been girls only. So when they told me it was a boy on the 16 week ultrasound I said "really?!" My first thought was exactly "wow, how will I raise a boy"! But I am learning and having a lot of fun:)

  • I know exactly what you mean.  Just the other day I was changing DS in the locker room after his swimming class and he started spraying.  I threw the diaper on top of it and lifted slowly three times before he finally stopped.  It was hard not to scream in surprise like I usually do, but I didn't want the other people in the locker room to know what was happening.  I just calmly used his towel to clean him up.

Having to change DS's diaper and wipe around his "parts" took me a long time to get used to.My friend said it best when she was talking about babysitting a little boy and having to clean that area.  She said, "I felt like I needed to at least buy him dinner first."

7 months into it, I'm pretty darn comfortable with it and I've heard it's more difficult with a girl anyway.  Let the peeing continue!

  • Yup, yup, yup, and YUP, to it all (though I too have escaped pee in my face -- just jinxed it, right?).   It always startles me, but the only time I actually cried out was when poop started oozing out onto my fingers as I wiped him.... ack!  And then DS farted and laughed.

  • I absolutely love my little man. I am shocked you made it this far before that happened :)

Boys are just awesome. This morning when Jace woke up and realized I wasn't going to work (sick), he said, "Do you want to snuggle, mommy? Let's snuggle!" I can't wait for the monster to get home shortly so we can snuggle again!

  • I love boys! I escaped the pee face so far but DS has peed on himself, on the wall next to his changing table, in the bathtub and on the floor when he finds himself w/o a diaper, which is not often thankfully. He loves to be naked and run around with his little thing hanging loose. He thinks it's hilarious and has started playing with it. This phase is one that boys/men never grow out of, lol!!!
