Need Help Fast....Gender Reveal

We find out this afternoon if we are expecting a baby boy or girl! We are so excited and can't wait to share with our families! We are having dinner with everyone tonight so that we can tell them all at once, but I don't want to just blurt it out. Any idea's on something we can do to tell them? A cake/cupcakes are not an option due to a niece with a glutten allergy.

Re: Need Help Fast....Gender Reveal

  • What about going out and buying a onsie for a boy or a girl and wrap it up to have someone open at dinner?

  • You could go to one of those party stores and buy a bunch of pink or blue soothers (you know those tiny ones that people use for table decorations) and have everyone close their eyes and hold out their hands. You guys could put one in everyone's hands and have them all open their eyes at the same time. It's simple but it'd work if you are going out to dinner and don't want to bring something big to the restaurant.

  • go to a party store and buy pink or blue plates to serve dinner or dessert on
  • Maybe you could try and do some fun "reveal". Like you say you have some big news, you found out the gender, and then you grab a box and pull out a dress.  Or, do the sneaky, hold a pink flag, but then attached is a blue and you're having a boy, that way everyone gets the ""ooooo,,, aaaaaahhh!!!" feeling.

Or... maybe put a note under everyone's glass.. OR... you have have 3 separate pieces of paper one saying "It's", next saying "a", the next revealing the gender, and have one under 3 different people and get them to read it out in order...

I don't know... sorry I'm not good at this! lol

  • I love the blue or pink helium balloon in a box for someone to open, but if you are going out to a restaurant that may be a bit too invasive. Have fun!

  • You said that cupcakes were out, but Betty Crocker has a gluten free cake mix that I use for cupcakes.  Just throwing that out there if you were looking for an easy cupcake option.

  • One of my friends didn't want to know the gender until she told her family, so she had the ultrasound tech write the gender on the back of the picture. Then, she took the picture to a store and picked out a blue and pink stuffed animal. Then, she had the store clerk take both animals and the ultrasound picture into the back and wrap up the right one so she couldn't see it. That evening, she opened the box herself (in front of her family) and they all found out it was a girl at the same time. Super cute! But, I guess that is if you also wanted to wait the extra couple of hours to find out.

  • I would do an outfit if your going out our if they are coming over I would put a few pink or blue items around and see if anyone has picked up on it.

Ifbyou guys are finding out at the same time I would probably do something like have a store put either blue or pink candy, balloons, confetti in a bag/box and open it for everyone. Honestly I think I like the confetti idea it's celebratory and fun but people really have to look to see what it is

  • If you can sit through the whole dinner without blurting it out, and you aren't the one paying - you could ask the waiter to write on the check "It's a _____!!". Or if you think they might not get it, they could write "You and H are having a _____!!"

    LOVE THIS!!!!

  • A local pharmacy that has a decent gift selection carries cute u/s picture frames in pink and blue that say something like "Here I am in Mommy's Tummy- Aren't I Cute?".  I put u/s pics in those for my mom and MIL to reveal the gender to them.

  • Thank's for all your help girls! I think I have figured out what to do! We will be buying 2 boxes and 2 balloons. We will put one balloon in each box and give them to our mom's to open at dinner. If it is a girl, her name will be on my moms tag so she can tell everyone her name (it's a family name from my moms side). Now, I am just waiting on 3:30 so we can see our precious son or daughter!

I love this idea as well! And maybe if you are worried about the baloon floating away in the restuarant, you could just tape or tie the string to the bottom of the box so that it doesn't fly off when its opened.

We did this for our reveal. It worked great! At the bottom of the box, we filled it with "It's a Girl" mints and other fun girly things! We have a weight on 3 pink ballons so they didn't float away! It was nice for my husband and I to have the moment alone when we found out the gender and THEN to reveal to our parents. Have fun!! :)
