You won't believe what my doctor told me during my c-section

I have to start by saying I really like my doctor. He's a good professional, he gave us our IVF baby on our first try, was always available via phone or e-mail, and was very clear and informative.

He preformed my c-section, and the scar is tiny and perfect, and while he was "there" he even examined my uterus and tubes to see if there was any reason why I couldn't get pregnant for so long (there isn't any, by the way).

He never overcharged us (and there were some things he did for free) because he knew that we were paying everything out of pocket.

But, man, he is obsessed about weight.

I don't know if you remember my posts about this, but when I gained 18 pounds at six months he said that that was ALL the weight I was supposed to gain in the ENTIRE pregnancy. I ended up gaining 21 pounds.

And while he was performing my c-section he asked me if I exercised much. I said that I hadn't in a long time and asked why. He said that my abs were really separated, too separated even for a pregnant woman. That I had to do crunches. Indifferent

It's been 12 days since I gave birth and I'm 8 pounds shy from my pre pregnancy weight: 127 pounds at 5' 4''. I look great!

Is it just me or is he a bit weird?

Ummmm...I'm 5'4" and would have to cut off limbs to be 127! What a strange thing to say! I'm sure my abs aren't even in the realm of fit but right now I am not worried about it! I can do crunches later!

I'm glad you like him but talk about awkward bedside manner!

I remember your weight posts from before.

I am so excited that you are back (almost) to your pre-pregnancy weight in such a short amount of time! That is amazing! When you go see him for your check up, make sure and throw that out there so he knows all that weight gain during pregnancy didnt affect you at all!

I am sure my ab muscles are trash, before pregnancy and now!

He's totally out of line. I wonder how many women he's said things like that too and given them body complexes. I'm glad you're confident enough in how you look to ignore that mess

He's a jerk. I'm also 5'4" and over 200lbs. Wonder what he would say to me? Even when I was really fit and running marathons, I weighed 134lbs.

Well think of it this way, he could be protecting preparing you for prior births/problems. Something like this was was said to one of my friends after her pregnancies (she had vaginal births), she is tall and thin, used to be physically fit (but still looks great now, two kids later).The week Christmas she had a double hernia surgery where he ab muscles separated we're assuming during the pregnancy she carried her son. It has been a tough, very painful recovery for her, not to mention she is a hospital manager, and has a almost 3 years old and 1 year old.

Ummm yeah, he's out there w/his weight beliefs, especially since you by most standards are far from having a weight issue to begin with. Oh well, chalk it up to just some wacky opinion and do your best to pay it no mind. Glad to hear you and your daughter are doing well. She's so pretty!

I am 5'4" as well and if I weigh any less than 140 I start to look too sickly. Your doc is crazy.

I wonder if we have the same infertility doc... lol or maybe they all are obsessed with weight. I think it can be a big factor in fertility, however it doesn't sound like you have an issue at all ( I was overweight before I got preganant and have gained more...). So that is really strange for what you sound like.

If by weird, you mean a "Rude A**hole?" Then, yes. I am VERY big. And my doc has, of course, said a couple things about how it could be better if I weren't. But he is always telling me I got pregnant, so it's all working and to worry about it later.
