I'm sure the answer is "probably", but I'll ask anyway...
So I was just sitting reading the "Starting Solid Foods" handout that we got at the boys' 4 month appointment, and on the second page, there's a warning to not home-prepare beets, turnips, carrots, spinach, or collard greens. I'm getting ready to make batches of food to freeze for the first time, and I was actually going to start with carrots.
Has anyone else heard of this being an issue? The sheet says it's due to possible high nitrate levels. My cookbook says nothing, and I can't find anything on wholesomebabyfoods either. We go back for our 6 month appointment in a few weeks, but I'd like to get started before then.
Thanks!
Re: Have I been living in a cave?
Thank you! I will go back and look at the site again. I'm sure I missed something there. I usually take what my doctor says and follow it pretty closely, but I had never heard of any issues with carrots before.
Thanks so much for responding so quickly. I'll rethink my plan for introducing veggies!
Haha...thanks! My two girlfriends got them those outfits for Christmas. We put them in the outfits to go out to dinner with family, and they fell asleep during the car ride. Normally they are smiling and giggling, but they were just waking up when I took the picture. Hence, the grumpy and irritated look on G's face.
