I'm 38w6d today and learned I'm hard as a rock and not at all dilated. I guess I shouldn't be surprised b/c I was the same way with DS until I was induced at 10 days past-due. But, my OB only recommends I go to my due date unless I'm progressing. So that means I have 8 days for my body to get with the program before a rcs.
I've been taking EPO and drinking red rasp. tea for a few weeks now. Going for walks. Will start pumping today. Sex isn't happening. Any other suggestions?
Re: discouraged
No other suggestions for kick starting labor- hope it happens soon! Is there a reason your doctor won't let you go past 40 weeks? Some people (myself included) don't show any signs of labor prior to labor actually happening. I went to 41 weeks with both of mine- if you went 10 days over the first time, odds are you will again. Can you convince him to give you a little more time to let your body get in gear?
Good luck!
i am with you....still here and pumping this is day 5 of that...and similarly to you sex is out....its just not happenening....i dont care if the sperm have super powers i cannot do IT.
pump, tea, and walk, and rest.......let your body do the work. dont let the stress of a deadline get in your head...that will make it worse...relax on the birth ball and it will happen.

the OBs in town will let you go to 41w if you're making a bit of progress. I see my doctor again on Monday and if I'm even a finger tip dilated, I'm going to see about pushing back the c/s. With DS, even 24 hrs after cervidil and a stretch and sweep that broke my water, I was still sitting at 2-3 cm. I think I have a cervix of steel
This is why I didn't get internals until my 40w appointment when I felt like I was in early labor already. Things can change so quickly and who knows where I would have been at less than 39w. Obviously this doesn't help you, but I just don't understand their logic. Is there some harm of waiting 41w in their opinion? I would like to know their reasoning behind it and just take it day by day, even if that means going past EDD without their "permission" and finding another way to get an extra couple of days. Maybe ACOG would help them?
ETA: I guess then I had a cervix of steel b/c I was induced with Cytotec, Cervadail, breast pump and maxed out on Pit and only got to 2 cm after three nights of induction? Oh wait, no, that's not right, I went home and went into labor on my own a couple days later and got to 9 1/2 and had a successful VBAC without any intervention. It's called your body not being ready and docs being impatient (the vast majority of the time). I know there are many others like you and myself on this board that had little progress with induction b/c our bodies just weren't ready no matter what was thrown at them.
Haha, this is true. Technically, I have a cervix of steel too, but the fact of the matter is that my body was ready when it was ready and wouldn't be bullied otherwise.
I have to agree. I felt this way with DS when I went into labor at the hospital with him. This time around I want things to be different, I don't want another c/s and I don't want them pressuring me into induction, augmentation, or other things that aren't needed just because my body is taking longer to labor. That is just my opinion though and if all the doctors in your town are dead set on inducing you at 40 weeks that is a shame because what can you do?
