Re: clicky: at what point will you.......

  • This is a great poll!!  I don't know!!  There's a Lenny Kravitz concert on the 30th, I'm due on Feb 9th.  I'd love to go, but...

I'll be watching this poll to see what everyone else is doing!

  • For me it depends how much money the tickets are and where the event is.

I'm fine gambling away some money, but not too much. DH and I are huge basketball fans, but KU basketball games can get pricey, so we decided to just do non-conference games this season. DH's parents have KSU basketball tickets (so we could go to some games for free), but it's 2 hours away and with a month to go ? I'm not comfortable being that far away from my doctor/hospital. DH is going to a game this weekend though, but it will be his last.

  • I'm done with any major/minor events.  I'm lucky to just get thru work each day, let alone planning on concerts or sporting events.  I went to a Blues (hockey) game last weekend and I was so exhausted by the end of the night.

  • I haven't attended a ticketed event in ages, but I do have voice lessons, cello lessons, and a counselor I see weekly. My cello lessons are the most challenging, because dragging around a huge instrument is kind of taxing, so my last lesson will be on the 13th. My counselor and I haven't discussed an end date yet, but my voice teacher and I have lessons scheduled up til the first of February. (I'm due on the sixth.) I also signed up for a vaccine education class through my birth center on the 4th of February, but I'm pretty sure they'll be understanding if I can't make it because I'm in labor.

  • My first DD was due in July, and I went to a Paul McCartney concert in Hyde Park London the week I was due. I was ridiculously full-term pregnant, my feet looked like elephant hooves by the end (I was real smart and wore a cheap pair of Old Navy flip flops that I stood on for six hours), and it was 95 degrees out. I refused to skip it. In fact, I hoped all the walking would coerce the kid out (it didn't). We also parked about three miles away and WALKED back to the car after, because it was crazy crowded and we couldn't find a cab.

Anyway, it was one of the best concerts of my life and I'm glad I went. But I was super miserable for a few days afterward, and DH is still apologizing for the walk back to the car.

As long as you're smart about it (like I was not), there's no reason to skip things. Labor is a long process and if you just sit at home all the time, it's gonna feel a loooot longer!

  • I'm due Feb 21 and I will not buy tickets to anything in February.  That doesn't mean I won't go anywhere or do anything, but I don't want to end up with tickets that we can't use and waste money.

  • For me it would really depend on what it was and how much the tickets cost. I would still go places as long as I feel like going and am not in labor. But I wouldn't buy anything too far out at this point just because I would hate to waste the money if I wasn't able to go.

  • I picked 4+ weeks, because we're done with all the planned/ticketed excursions... But that's the planned stuff. We'll probably still go out for things, but on more of an impromptu basis!

  • I dont want to commit to anything not because I'm worried about labor, but because I know the way I feel on any given day varies...So I dont want to buy a ticket and then not feel like going!

  • I WISH I had the option to go anywhere fun. I've been on modified bed rest my entire pregnancy and other than having the occasional local lunch/dinner date here and there, doing my baby registry, and going to my baby shower, my outings have been reduced to dr visits...

  • I said up until I go into labor, as long as the event is within approriate distance from the hospital and I feel up to it. We dont have anything planned, although our friends did ask us to go to a monster truck show, but it is an overnight trip 4 hours away the week of my EDD and I declined that one...lol!

  • Oops!  Misread the post and thought it was for when we would be stopping work. But I guess it still applies. We are going to see George W Bush speak at a dinner on the 13th. I'm due the 22 so I hope I don't miss it!

  • I've been done for awhile.  My doctor told me that I shouldn't even go to a concert at 32 weeks!  Lady Antebellum was in town, and I asked the doctor about it and she said, "You can go if you want, but if I were you, I'd stay home."

  • We have NY Rangers tickets next week for DH's birthday and I am not due until end of February.  DH is more worried than i am!  He said he's nervous because of the crowds and the noise and the rush to leave at the end of the game.  I paid for those tickets and I'll be damned if one of his goofy friends is going to take my ticket!  I feel totally fine!
