Sleep Help, Anyone?

We've been having ridiculous sleep issues for the last month and a half or so (I'm more sleep deprived than I was when DS was a newborn, and that's with DH helping out now!), but things are finally getting better.  However, we still have this issue: as soon as DS wakes up, he sits up, thus making himself more awake.  So he can't soothe himself back to sleep, and we have to get him into a deep sleep before laying him back down (it's hard to not wake him up with the crib mattress on the lowest setting and my short arms...).  He's usually only waking up 1-2 times per night now, but it takes 1-2 hours to get him back down each time.  I'd hoped he would figure it out now... I wish I could swaddle him again!  Advice???

  • We actually put the swing back up and dh has been using it to get Liam back to sleep at night. It's been working like a charm since I've been sick lately and not willing to have someone attached to me all night.

  • Have you tried a seahorse or noise machine that might help.

  • We have both a white noise machine in his room and the seahorse (which doesn't seem to help anymore).  Maybe I'll try the bouncer (the one we have is convertible to a "chair" so it could work for his weight, but our swing is one of those fold up ones and he's way too big)...  Right now he's sleeping on the couch holding on to my leg because he woke up when I put him in the crib...

  • We put our crib side car to our bed so I'm able to soothe her back down before she gets too awake. Honestly, I still swaddle her sometimes for naps. Once she is asleep I just unswaddle her and she keeps sleeping.

  • My first son went through this same stage right at this age. There's a reason we decided to do sleep training/CIO right at 9 months. :-)
