Are there any doctors/nurses?

I have already called my doctor but I am waiting for a call back and slightly freaking out. I just got my blood test results and there were a few red flags on it and I am wondering what they could mean. Google is freaking me out even more so I'm wondering if there are any medical experts here that could help me out a bit... Let me know if you need more information: (these are the red flags)

White Blood Cell Count 11.4 H (reference range 3.8-10.8 thousand/uL)

MCH 34.7 H (reference range 27.0-22.0 pg)

Absolute neutrophils 8789 H (reference range 1500-7800 cells/uL)

every time I google I see cancer so I've stopped looking but I'm not sure when I'll hear back from my doctor and can't stop thinking about it.

ETA- I also don't see HCG or progesterone anywhere on the results... is that normal or am I missing something? Do they not test for it at this point? (I was 8+6 at the time of the test)

First, step away from Google, it's the devil.

I'm not a human nurse but blood cells for animals and humans are similar.

Your white blood cells, specifically your neutrophils are raised. Those are the WBCs that help fight a invaders like infections or colds. There are a number of reason why they may be increased but you need to talk to your doctor as to why.

It also appears that your red blood cells are carrying more hemoglobin than normal and I'm not certain but that can be from pregnancy. Our oxygen requirement does increase during pregnancy.

You need to talk to your doctor but I personally wouldn't be worrying too much.

The progestrone and HCG may be on another lab requisition and not ready or not public.

Those results are pretty benign. You might have a slight bacterial infection somewhere. For example, if you had a strep infection, you would probably have a more elevated white count and elevated neutrophils.

MCH by itself doesn't tell you anything. Since these are the only abnormal labs you got, it most def. means nothing. It has to do with red blood cells. Its used to help determine the type and cause of anemia. Since you reported everything else as normal (associated with RBC's), it means nothing.

Stop googling.

thanks ladies. I've put down the google.... I still want to talk to someone at the office to ask what is going on just so I can be sure but like you said, I'm sure it is nothing. I tend to be a bit of a worrier but that has been magnified now that there is a baby to worry about! I think they are out to lunch now but hopefully I hear back soon. I made the mistake of telling DH and now he's more worried than I am. I didn't tell him any of the actual results because I don't want him googling too!

thanks... after I stepped away from google I stopped freaking out and these responses helped. I honestly am not freaking out at all anymore but still curious to hear what the doctor says but I'm sure it's nothing like everyone said. It was just a bit shocking when I opened them and saw the red writing and then google of course didn't help the situation.
