Vacation Idea help..

We are going to a wedding on 6/23 in SC. We were thinking of renting a house in the OBX for the following week...but I'm not sure it would be worth it. What do you think??

This would be our schedule:

Thursday...start driving and stay in hotel 1/2 way to SC

Friday and Saturday night stay in SC

Sunday - Thursday...OBX (so really, we would only have 4 days there. It is about a 9 hour drive from SC to OBX)

Friday start driving back and stay in hotel 1/2 way home.

Get home Saturday

Is 4 days (5 nights) enough time to take a 2 and 3 yo to the OBX? We would need to rent the house for 7 nights..we'd do it with my parents.

To top it off...we will be back for 1 week...and then the following week is our annual Canada camping trip.

Does anyone have any other beach desitnation ideas on the East Coast??

    What about staying on the beach in SC? There's Myrtle Beach obviously, but there's also quieter places near Charleston like Isle of Palms. Would cut down on the travel time.

    My cousin suggested Charlestown too - she said it's her fav city in the south. But she is the one getting married (IE not tagging along kids yet, so her fav things...eating and shopping are not on our to-do list :) So I wasn't sure) It's three hours south of where we will be...so I was nervous to add even MORE driving time on too.

    But I will check it out. Thanks!!

    When I was younger (probably from 8-15), we used to go to Ocean Isle Beach which was around an hour north of Myrtle Beach, but in NC.

    Oooo, thanks! I definitely don't want to go to Myrtle Beach - but something north would be great!

    Yep, I would avoid Myrtle too.  We started doing the OBX since it's definitely closer to NY but if you're in SC, I would think this would be easier.  Plus I would think it's better than getting in and out of the OBX!

    Yep, I just mapquested and it's about 5 hrs away from Greenville. And yeah, I really want to do OBX but I think it would be easier when they are a big older. Plus- we'd have to rent a house for a whole week no matter how long we stay.

    What about doing something more like Virginia Beach area, so it would be heading back in the right direction after the wedding? Although I don't know how far out of your way that would take you either...
