After 24 hours of labor, forceps, an episiotomy, and lots of swearing at my DH for giving her his huge head, our "little" girl made her appearance at 21 1/2 inches and 9.9 pounds.
She is doing fabulously and I'm utterly addicted to her.
At midnight at on 1/3 my water broke. I had zero signs of labor so when I got to the hospital I was placed on pitocin. Several hours and two bags in, I hadn't made any progress. I was given an epidural and was able to doze for about two hours. When I woke up, I was 4 centimeters.
Things progressed from there and before I knew it, I was ready to push. I don't mean to scare any yet-to-be moms, but it was hell, probably because she was so big. After about an hour and a half of pushing and very little sleep, I just couldn't do it anymore so my doctor assisted with the forceps (just a hint- don't ever look at the forceps also, ask them to remove the mirror if they need to be used- shudder).
Anyway, she is here safe and sound and that's all that matters. I'm super sore and taking things really easy but so far the ibuprofen and ice is all I've needed. Oh, and she's also doing well with breast feeding.
Wishing all of you a the best of luck! It really does kind of wash away once you hold your little one.
