My son likes to nap in his crib on his belly. He will take 2 hr naps at home. However, at daycare his naps SUCK. I get that there are other kiddos there and its loud and bright. Today he was there 5 hours and took only one 20 minute nap. He is so off and passes out when he gets home at like 6pm!! His typically bedtime is 7 or 7:30pm. I have told them that when he gets whiney he's tired & to put him down. I think they are totally missing his cues!! Anyone else have this issue??

Re: crap naps at daycare?
I could have written this post myself. We are having the very same problem. My husband and I were both off for 2 weeks during the holidays and we worked endlessly to get him on a nap schedule. On Monday at home, he napped for 2 hours in the morning, and hour at midday, and then another hour in the afternoon with a 6:30 pm bedtime. It was a big milestone for us! Then, he started back at daycare and despite my note about his new schedule and how he should not be up for more than 2 hours, they will not put the child down for a nap. One time, he was up for 5 hours straight. I was livid.
I get that there are other kids, and it is bright and loud, but it isn't healthy. I am going to visit another place this week that apparently has a separate room for sleeping in hopes that all our hard work is not ruined by daycare.
We have the same problem at our daycare (keeping DD up too long and then she takes super short naps). We had the same problem with DD1 at the same daycare. I worried about it endlessly and naps finally did improve when she was about 15 months old (and moved to the toddler room where everyone naps at the same time!).
I'm sorry, I wish I had advice for you, but I've given up on hoping for good daycare naps, I just don't think it's possible for some babies to ever get good ones while they are in a room with other kids and the daycare providers can't watch for their cues!
