I'm not in a rush, but sometime in the near future, we'll be converting V's bed. We don't have the toddler conversion kit, but we do have the full size bed conversion kit.
Is the toddler bed an important step? We could always buy it, but I don't really feel like spending the money if it's kinda unnecessary.
Thanks!
Re: Q1: Do we need a toddler bed?
I'd say no. we bought the toddler conversion kit and kept her bed as a toddler bed for about 2 months before we moved her room to make the new nursery. once we moved her we converted her bed to a full and she was fine.
if you really want to kept the toddler size bed you could always just take off the front of the crib and buy a bed rail to install on the front. we did that for the first 6-8 weeks after she climbed out of the crib because we had to order the toddler bed conversion kit, and it worked fine. in hindsight i'd have just left it like that and then converted to a full bed.
This, except Luke has a twin bed. If you're worried about her rolling out you could try to get her some special type of frame. Luke has a race car bed (HUGE CL score) that the mattress sits inside so he has something to keep him from falling out. But honestly I don't think he needs it. I've never noticed him sleeping up against the side, like he would've fallen out had those sides not been there. KWIM?
