Car recs for two car seats?

Two car seats will fit in my Focus (08) with one on each window side and no room in the middle, however I would prefer to put the infant car seat in the middle, with DS #1's seat by the window. How are your car seats arranged? Thanks!

ETA: I forgot to say that it should be a car, not an SUV, bc I commute 1+ hours 5 days a week

  • Have you thought about getting different car seats rather than getting a new car? The Diono seats are slim, so depending on your car, you might be able to put one on the side with an infant seat in the middle.

Otherwise, we have a Pontiac G6, and we could put a Diono on one side with an infant seat in the middle. It has a pretty big back seat. I think maybe the Camry does too, but I am not 100% positive on that.

  • We have comfortably fit 2 radians side by side in my MILs honda civic with room for an adult in back with them. It's very fuel efficient and nice to drive.

  •  2 car seats isn't a problem in the average car... .if your seats are not fitting then you need to get different car seats - not a new car.

the sunshine radian is very thin and we have 3 across the back row of our minivan - you could easily fit that forward facing + infant seat rear facing, etc.

the combi coccoro is a thinner and not as tall convertible seat, too - that can easily fit 3 across... so 2 is not an issue, but it doesn't go up that high in weight so your older child likely won't fit.  The Sunshine goes to 80lbs- that's why we got them for our boys.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • I was able to do three across in my Cavalier on many instances.  It usually consisted of 1 rear facing (youngest rear faced until 2) one forward facing, and a booster for my oldest niece.  It was tight, and I had to buckle my oldest niece in.  I did S on the outside behind the passenger seat in a Graco Cargo, L rear facing in the middle in an Evenflo Triumphant Advance, and a High Back Booster behind me for A.  We also did two rear facing convertibles across the back seat, with an adult back there, and they were by no means small convertibles.
