Tonight I introduced chicken pur?ed with breastmilk and sweet potatoes to my six and a half month old. She started solids at five and a half months, but was doing great munching her food ... So I thought I would give it a try for the iron and protein factor. She ate it just fine, but at the back of my mind I wonder if it seems a little early for meat. I'm so used to seeing babies eating just fruits and veggies. Did anyone else choose to introduce protein early and when?
Re: Anyone introduce meat early?
I should ETA ... My daughter hated the first bite. She made a face like she thought it was absolutely disgusting and was begging to chase the taste out of her mouth with water out of her sippy cup (a first). I cut the mixture with more sweet potato and she got more used to it as we went along with the feeding... But this was definitely not baby's new favorite by any means!
I made D a turkey meatloaf (with lots of zuccini and carrots). We ate about half and I pureed the rest for him. It took several meals of one taste before he really got interested in eating it. And when I mixed it with sweet potatoes, it became a winner.
Key takeaways for me: patience and sweet potatoes!
