Have you settled into a pumping schedule? Today I fed LO at about 7:30 then pumped at 10:30 (later then I intended) and then again at 1 and I'll go for my third at 4. I'm thinking ideally what I'll settle into will be something like:
7:30 - BF
10:00 - pump
12:30 - pump
3:00 - pump
5:30 - BF
But, that really only allows for a strict 8:30-5 work day (I do the morning drop off at daycare), so exactly 7.5 hours of working and 1 hour of pumping. Somehow I need to get another 30 minutes of work in without pushing dinner too late. Blah. Seems like I'll be taking a lot of my work home with me to do after the kids are in bed.

Re: Breastfeeding moms that are back to work
I work 8-3 with an hour commute so i will do
5:00 feed then pump
8:30 pump
11:30 pump
2:30 pump (most likely only 15 minutes)
sometime after 4:30 feed
My plans are:
6:00 a.m. - feed/pump
11:00 a.m. - pump
2:30 p.m. - pump if I have to stay late OR go home and feed/pump
Feed on demand once I am home and throughout the night, pumping after each feed. I'll probably decrease some of my pumping at night in a few weeks, once I have maintained my supply. My biggest fear is my supply tanking so I'm going to push it for a bit.
This was day 1 back but when I'm having a "normal" day this is the schedule--
0600 BF
0645 pump while driving in
0940 pump (pray my clinic isn't running behind) while charting
1200 pump (again charting), express some by hand around 1245 to be sure I'm empty
1600 pump while finishing charts for the day
1700 pray to be out the door and home by 1730 to BF then BF all night but historically I'm there until 1730 many nights.
I pump one side when we get up to BF around 0100 and 0400. Today I pumped 4oz overnight (skipped the 0400 pump) and 20oz at work while DD drank 10oz w/ DH at home, so I'm going to count on this working again. If I am on call in the evenings/overnight I will pump q2hr evening and q3hr overnight at least for the next few months. Maybe you can pump while doing some duty so your time counts for both?
In a perfect world I would stay in my office to pump and keep working, but I have an office mate. He does work from home some days, so on those days I'll just close my door and keep at it. And I'll probably work from home some too, so I can work and pump. But when I have to go to the mother's room, there isn't a network connection, so not much I can do.
Maybe the solution is to work a slightly longer day on the days that I can work while pumping

So glad I am not alone in this problem. I commute 45 minutes. So I too, have to work extra to get time in because I pump.
my schedule
4 am pump
7 am pump 15 mins
10 or 11 pump (work)
2 or 3 pump (work)
6 pump at home
I have only been pumping at work twice and my breast hurt SO bad, i have had to take tylenol. It is tough because I go into someone elses office to do it, he is super understanding and I know I could go again, I just dont want to be at the office until late.
