Hi ladies! I haven't posted on this board in ages, but I check back every now and again to check up on posters I used to "know". I decided to post here because I thought I might be able to get some educated responses...so I hope you don't mind.
I am a PCOS'er, and I did 4 clomid cycles each and TI with # 1 and # 2; I have done treatments with my OB so far. We are going to start trying for #3 in the end of March/beginning of April.
My question is, I know there is a ton of debate about # of clomid cycles and links to cancer, and I have talked with my OB about it, and he said he has read up on it, but the studies aren't completely valid, so he doesn't agree with them. For those of you who may think otherwise, is it supposedly linked to the number of cycles in a row or in a lifetime? I am just not sure where to go when we start in March/April, and if it would be wise to give clomid a try for a few cycles or attempt another route, which may then lead me to RE.
Thanks for any help/insight you can give me.
Re: clomid question from old old poster
I am not exactly sure what the "rule" is however, I have lost all trust in OB's and I personally wouldn't do anymore clomid cycles afer the 6 I had. I think clomid is the devil.
If your OB is okay with it and you are okay with it then.... I don't see anything on my RE's website.
If I am remembering correctly I think the limit was 12 months, so you should be okay. Me not taking clomid has nothing to do with cancer rates, I hated the way I felt on it. I still don't trust OB's though

Ok, I don't know what happened with my post above, but thanks Babbs for the response. Luckily i have never had any side effects from clomid....but of course that could always change.
I am just curious, did something specific happen with an OB and that is why you don't trust them?
Well you are lucky, I had the worse s/e on that crap
I was miserable!
As far as OB's is not their speciality, they don't monitor and they would let you just continue you on and on. There job is annuals, checking pregnancy and progress and to deliver babies (some can't even do that right). I love my Ob, he's great, but I won't ask their office for anything other than an annual exam. I won't go back to them for delivery. I will go back to MFM, thanks to the other doctors in my OB"s practice I could have lost my babies. They just kept sending me home, they didn't care to try different treatments and what not. So I think OB's are churn and burn sometimes. I like speciality doctors and will stick with speciality doctors from here on out.

Femara is the way to go!
Clomid never worked for me but Femara did the trick (of course with many days of injectables too) Good Luck!
I will never do another clomid cycle...I did 5 and that was enough for me.
Have you considered Femara? It is a much better drug, IMO...fewer side effects and I really think most PCOSers respond better to it anyway.
Good luck!

I 100% agree with this. My OB had no clue what he was doing when he prescribed me Clomid. And I will also only see an MFM with any future pregnancy. I did not have a good experience with OB's and all that went on when I was pregnant with DS.
I'm not saying that your OB doesn't know what he's doing. I just know that mine didn't and I wouldn't go that route again.
