Appetite after c/s?

My c/s is at 5:30 tonight and I'm curious as to if anyone had an appetite after their surgery or if, given the circumstances, pain meds, etc, you really didn't want to eat at all. I'm sure DH will pack something for me to eat, but if I know I'll be hungry, then I want my Italian hoagie that I've abstained from for 9 months!

I was on a clear liquid diet for 24 hours after, since you are on a catheter and can't poop yet. I didn't have much of an appetite anyway, because of the morphine.

After the c section I could barely drink water. They watched my intake because I was just out of surgery and they didn't want me puking. I think about 6 or so hours after I was able to drink juice and have crackers. That sucked. I don't remember being very hungry but I was super super thirsty. The following day (my son was born at 8:56 pm) I was able to eat a regular meal.

I had my c/s at the same time of day. I only ate a cracker or two that night around 11 (when they first okay'd eating) and a few slow sips of water.

The next morning I had a very gentle breakfast.

It wasn't until a day later I was up to eating somewhat normal.

You'll really want to make sure you feel okay from the anesthesia and have your bowels back working before you eat an Italian hoagie.

I had my c/s at 2:00pm and by 7:00 I was eating soup.

I had to have a liquid diet for 6 hours afterwards then I slowly got food. I had my c/s at 8am and by that evening I made dh go get me some real food from a local restaurant b/c I was starving.

Unless you have general anestesia, you will be able to eat. I had labored for about 36 hours prior to my c/s, so I was HUNGRY.c/s was at 1847, I was drinking water and eating a granola bar by about 0100. I am in Germany, and they don't restrict your eating during labor or after surgery, so I went for it and felt fine. Just listen to your body.

I had DD at 8:15pm and was on on a liquid diet for most of the next day.

I was starving but put on a liquid diet for 24 hours. After that I was supposed to eat lightly. That didn't last long, though. My best friend brought me Swiss Chalet and it was amazing.

Thanks everyone for your input - I've got a fairly weak stomach so most likely, I'll be sticking to the crackers & soup & gatorade until I can really enjoy that hoagie.

I had my c section at night at 922pm my LO was born. I was knocked out from it and I was so ready to eat food sat morn for breakfast!

I was not at all hungry right after. I know I ate lunch at around 1 and a granola bar sometime around 4 or so...can't remember. Then I had my c/s around 8 PM and had no desire to eat until they brought me my very strange breakfast the next day. I was on clear liquids so I had broth, tea and jello for breakfast. LOL! I ate all of that and then was back to normal foods and a normal appetite by lunch.

I had NO appetite for weeks after my c/s...especially not right after. I had to force myself to eat because I wanted to EBF and I wasn't producing enough because I wasn't eating.

i still feel like i dont have my appetite back.

after the surgery, i was so thirsty. (like pp have said) i was begging for a drink during the surgery, so the nurses knew and bought me something right away. the next morning i think i had a mini muffin and was full. i hardly ate anything the first few days. its been 3 weeks, and i still eat very little at meals, i just never feel hungry and after a few bites, im just really full.

I had my c-section around the same time of day, and even though I hadn't eaten anything since midnight the night before and had been in labor all day, I still had no appetite. I was, however, extremely thirsty. I had one small sip of water and threw it back up immediately. The next morning I was hungry and they let me eat regular food and I was fine.

I definitely was not hungry for a while after. I remember not eating much in the hospital. You might want to wait on that hoagie - I can't imagine that will make your tummy feel very good after surgery!
