She's finally here!!!

My beautiful daughter, Emily Rae, was delivered on 1/1/12 at about 8:45pm. I was in labor for about 12 hours, and pushed for 1. Had to get an episiotomy, but the doc did a great job, and so far, the hemorrhoids are worse than the cut. (Sorry, TMI I know).

I woke up that morning at around 6:30, got on the bump for a bit, then felt very tired. So I went back to sleep for a few mins, and at 8:00ish, I woke up with horrible cramping. As soon as I sat up, I felt like my water was leaking, and by the time I got to our bathroom, I was SURE my water was leaking. I got my husband out of bed, called my mom, and away we went.

When I got into OB Triage, they checked me, found I was still one cm, but when she went to remove her hand... Whoosh! Water officially broken. So they get the gigantic pads, and send me on a walk while they get my room ready. In the mean time, the whole family arrives, and we let them know it will be awhile. Once I got into L&D, the nurse made me feel like I was totally running the show (which I appreciated SO much). Every time the doc recommended something, she would check to see if it was part of my plan then either continue, or hold off for me. She was GREAT.

Several hours seemed to fly by, and no real dilation to speak of. I have some scaring on my cervix from a previous procedure, so the nurse let me know that it would act like a spring; once the scar tissue let go, I would dilate very quickly. I opted for some pitocin, (a minimal amount) and in what seemed like minutes, the contractions became much more intense. (It was actually an hour or two, but boy does time fly in there!) They gave me an epidural, and suddenly, life became REAL nice. lol. Within another few (fast) hours, I was at 3cm, then 6, then needed to push. My mom and DH were there, and the whole thing (blurry as it is now) went very well. I was about to tear, and the doc let me know how bad he thought it would be, so we agreed to an epi. He did a great job, and very soon, Emily appeared. They put her on my chest, and I just could not believe it was over,... and just beginning.

She looked at me almost immediately, and anything anyone else said, I did not hear... she is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, and my DH is just as in love as any new dad should be... :-) The docs finished up, and soon after, I was getting visitors of various relations. It was wonderful. I loved seeing my dad, my in-laws, and my grandmother with my little girl. My sister has been a god-send this whole time, and has done all she could to take care of me, DH and baby.

We are home now, and I am exhausted! I feel like there are not enough hours I can sleep to make me wake up. But, still being kinda high on being a new parent, I am happier than ever. (Hormones will change that in 10 min, but it's cool.)

I am so happy for you. I teared up when you said that you couoldnt hear anything anyone said when you saw her...I cant wait for that moment, you made me so excited. Congrats again mamma!!!
