why is finding *just* a crib skirt...

...so freaking difficult??  BAH!  I found one that I like that is the colors I want, but they only sell it as part of a set!  We won't be using a bumper, we already have crib sheets that will match and I find the quilts to be fairly useless as well...so it seems like a waste to buy a whole set.  But I'm set on these colors!  Anyone have any ideas?  Seen anything with these colors elsewhere?  (green, pink, yellow)  My next option is to find someone who can sew me a custom one...but I really don't want to have to do that.  thoughts?

Here is the one I like (I only need and only like the crib skirt)

Re: why is finding *just* a crib skirt...

  • Agreed, its impossible.  I actually decided to sew my own because I gave up searching.  Good luck!

  • Have you thought about making one yourself?

That's what I did, because like you, I couldn't find just a skirt that I liked. There are a ton of blog tutorials on how to do it. And don't worry, if you're not a sewer (like me!) Heat N Bond works miracles. Check out Young House Love... They have a DIY crib skirt tutorial that I followed and my skirt came out amazing. For just under 20 bucks, I have a completely custom looking skirt.

    Good luck!!

  • At PBK, restoration hardware and baby bedding.com they sell separates.

  • babybedding.com has them, but they are steep

I am having mine made by my great g-maw!

    DD#1 11.7.07 - DD#2 11.2.10 (3rd Tri Loss)- DD#3 4.18.12
  • I'm sewing my own adjustable one so it fits the crib even when lowered, but in all honesty, it's probably the most unnecessary nursery accessory.

  • Friend of mine used a tablecloth.  I think I'm going to do that this time.

Our crib skirt made it to MAYBE 9 months.  After that, DD#1's mattresse had to be lowered all the way because she got tall.  Thus, the crib skirt didn't fit anymore.

  • Crazy...I am having the same issue with the EXACT same crib skirt. If you find something you will have to post an update.

ETA: For my first two I used valances and attached them to the crib frame under the matress. I took two valances, one for the front, one cut in half & used on both sides.

  • Yes, I was having this issue as well. I was going to purchase everything separately because we didn't want the bumper but if we want the skirt we have to get the set because they don't sell the skirts separately! UGH!!!

  • try this site www.dressupthenursery.com. I just ordered some fabric swatches from them the other night, but still waiting for them to come in.

  • Not quite the same

    green and pink

You're right...that's hard. I hope you figure out something you like. I don't think sewing one would be super hard, and you could find your own fabric for it.

  • I may not even do a skirt this time around. Our crib has 4 settings so it was hard for it  to look 'right' on any of them and it had to come off at either setting 3 or 4 because it was on the ground. Plus every time I changed the sheets I had to fight it back into place.

  • I had a neutral skirt for a double bed in my house, and discovered the short side (foot of the bed) is the same width as the long side of the crib.  Trimmed the long sides of the skirt to fit the short sides of the crib, and voila... Instant crib skirt, only scissors required. :)

  • see if they have that pattern in toddler bedding.  i liked a crib bedding set, but like you, just wanted a crib skirt.  i was able to find the same thing as a separate for toddler bedding.  the only difference is that instead of being 14inches, it's 10inches.  considering the crib is only on the highest setting for a short time, you'll never know the difference...and, the set was $189, but the toddler skirt was $29.  score!

  • Love the bedding set. It is actually the set we used for dd1 and they do make a toddler set.  The window valances are adorable and if you are looking for something to put on the walls i just bought wooden rongs from michaels painted them and hung them up.  It looks great.  Good luck in yodur search.
