Hi, I mostly lurk this board (I guess I don't have anything to say usually). But anyway, I'm due Jan 23rd and have a set induction date for the 16th b/c I'm GBS + and labor extremely fast and my dr wants to make sure I get the antibiotics. Anywho, I had my 37 week appt today and I'm dialated 2 cm and my doc stripped my membranes (which I'm ok with, please don't flame). Has anyone else had this done? About how long after having this done will labor begin? Thanks!!

My last OB dr told me that 75% of women will go into labor within 72 hours of having their membranes stripped.
I had mine stripped at 39w5d but DD wasn't born until 4 days after her EDD, so I beat the odds and it didn't work for me
I've decided against having it done this time, though. Good luck!
I did NOTHING for me.
I had mine done at 39 weeks, I was 3 cm dilated, 80% effaced.Still am.
And here I am, sitting, bigger than ever.My due date was yesterday (thicker is off a day).
Stripping your membrane is like having sex, drinking magic potions, going for a long walk, etc.... If your body is ready to get things moving, these things can help it to go a little faster. BUT nothing is certain.
I was 2cm and 50% effaced today when the dr. decided to "stir things up" by stripping my membrane. She said it might help things move along, but nothing is certain. She was also kind enough to tell me that she won't let me go past my EDD with my slightly elevated BP and low amniotic fluid.
This is me exactly- was done 5 days ago when I was at 2cm, no baby yet. My doc said that it will work in 48 hours, if it does kick-start things. With LO#1, I had my membranes stripped on my due date, and was in labor the next morning.
