Is that possible without spending a fortune? Megan loves to dress up but the dresses she have fallen apart, even the new one she got for Christmas :-( Most of them are from Target, so maybe I need to try somewhere else. Any suggestions?
Well, I am not sure what you would consider spending a fortune to be but DD loves to dress up as well. I have found it to be much better to invest more on the front end and have stuff hold up. That way, I'm not constantly buying new stuff. I try to get things on sale whenever possible and sometimes things show up on mamabargains. Anyway, I get stuff from the Disney Store (try to get on sale) and also the Princess Dress Shop. (www.theprincessdress.com) DD's stuff has held up really well from both places. Her Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, and Sleeping Beatuy dresses are all on their second year of life and look fantastic.
this wont help right now, but as an idea for the future, i got the girls a bunch of dress up outfits at goodwill during october when they have all the good stuff out for halloween. i got old dance recital type fairy ballerina outfits and the run of the mill disney fare for about $5 each
My 4 year old loves dress up and wears a princess dress every day. We mostly have the Disney store dresses, they have held up the best for daily wear with DD. My daughters favorite and most durable have been the princess dress nightgowns at the Disney store. They are pricey for nightgowns, but cheaper than the dress up costumes. My daughter will play outside in them and they've held up well. Disney store often has sales, and when they do, the prices are a little more reasonable.
This may fall into the "fortune" category but about 5 or 6 years ago we bought DH's niece a princess dress from FAO Schwartz and that thing is still around. SIL said our niece wore it till the seams were busting and then finally let her sister play with it. I think we spent about $70, which isn't cheap but considering the use they got out of it...
Re: Dress up clothes that last?

Not much help for you, but that's why I make our own. They last great!
But, um, they can break the bank...
