Love your coffee machine? Tell me all about it.

I'm in the market for a new coffee maker (not a Keurig or other single brewer).

*DH and I both drink coffee in the morning (3-4 cups between the two of us) and then I usually have a cup of decaf after dinner.

*Morning coffee is consumed about 2-4 hours apart, depending on the day so, I try to steer clear of glass carafes b/c the coffee tends to burn while sitting for such a long time.

*I would LOVE a coffee/espresso combo machine, but I haven't found any w/ great reviews.

Any recommendations?

  • Well I would tell you all about the best thing that ever happened to me, aka my new coffee machine. But you said I couldn't. So now I'll just pout...into the most delicious cup of coffee you could ever imagine.

lol- My parents have a keurig, so I'm familiar. In fact, one of my fave parts about it is that Jack makes the coffee while we're there. But, if I purchased one, I would feel guilty about the waste. The alternative, of course, is to use the plastic cup thing that you can fill w/ your own coffee, but that takes away convenience factor.

We got one of those to partially satisfy my husband's cheapness. He brewed one cup and said that it just wasn't as "perfect." So we'll see how much use that gets.

we have a saeco vienna from costco and love it. You can change the dial go from espresso to coffee, but it does make 1 cup at a time. You also haveto descale it every few months too if you go the auto route. Where are you reading reviews? whole latte love seems to have the most knowledgeable customers

  • I have had the Hamilton Beach Brew Station, and have no complaints.  I like there is no carafe and I just put my cup up to it to pour.  It keeps the coffee pretty warm for a fairly long time.  If it has been over about 2 hours since it brewed I do have to nuke it though (in the VERY rare event that there is still coffee in it after that long.)

I can't find my exact one, I've had it for about 3 years now.  But, here is one like it.

  • i know you said you didn't want single cup but i have this one

and we compost our pods if you are concerned about waste.  i think it makes a decent cup of coffee.

my DH got me this for christmas

and he calls it "baller" coffee cause it makes such a great cup of joe:)  you could make it right into a thermos if you're worried about the coffee sitting for too long.  we get our coffee from blue bottle in CA (its a bit expensive but we only do it on the weekends and i use the senseo during the week)

  • We love our coffee machine.  We just recently replaced our other Hamilton Beach BrewStation that was almost 7 years old.  The only difference between the two was the timer, a feature we have found to be awesome now that we have a coffee maker with one.  I love not having a carafe and it really does keep your coffee hot and tasting good until you turn it off.  I highly recommend the HB BrewStation; and no, I do not work for HB.  :)

  • I have this one (in black) that you can have.  This is my parents' old one - they got a new one for Christmas (they prefer the glass carafe) - and they gave it to us.  We just got a Keurig so we have no need for both.

    Lemme know if you wants.

I didn't love the waste factor either, BUT we now open up the coffee/tea pods and sprinkle the grounds on our strawberries or add them to the compost bin. Then you can recycle the empty plastic pod. We just wait until we have 6 or so then go out and dump them.

  • This one looks cool:

But we have a cuisinart similar to this (https://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/cuisinart-10-cup-extreme-brew-coffee-maker-thermal-carafe/?pkey=ccuisnart-coffee-makers-grinders) with the glass carafe.  I think you can order metal carafes though if you like.

Sorry for the lack of clicky... I guess my computer doesn't like javascript today.

  • You want cheap?  bialetti moka for espresso and just buy a milk frother for the milk for cappuccinos.  Or a french press for Americano.

My husband is a coffee snob, so we have a Francis Francis made by Illy.  I hear the Gaggia machines are great too.   I don't drink coffee much anymore (once in a blue moon), and dh only drinks espresso style drinks, but when we have company that drinks Americano coffee, we just use a french press.

  • We have a Cuisinart Grind and Brew that I like a lot. I think it would meet the morning needs of your and your DH.

We now have a Keurig and I love that 1000000% more than the other coffee maker. I don't drink a lot of coffee, maybe a cup a day. DH makes his to go and then drinks coffee at work. We have an Ekobrew cup that we use with our own ground coffee so there isn't really any expense in buying K-Cups (which are a lot of waste, imo.)
