  • I apparently have the genetic thing that makes cilantro taste like soap, so that's not too high on my list. I can cope if it happens to be in things, but I won't add it myself. That expands to anything with that 'musty' taste like licorice or anise flavors or raw papaya.

I don't like plain liver, but will eat pate like a mad woman. Go figure.

    That's about it.

    I can't eat any dairy. I wish I could.

I'm pretty open to just about anything else.

  • In my experience, people don't like asparagus or brussel sprouts because they haven't had them cooked right. We eat both a lot and if we can get someone to try them, they realize how amazing they are. Dh makes both taste amazing.

  • Wow!  I didn't know there were people in the world who just do NOT like cheese!  I wish I didn't like cheese!  That would save me a ton of calories.  If you do not like cheese does that mean you don't eat pizza or you just don't like to eat cheese by itself?  Just curious!

  • Canned tuna fish, which my H would eat everyday without hesitation.  It reeks.

Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
  • anything zucchini-like ("It's not zucchini - it's summer squash!"  omfg they are all the same).

    cooked carrots, turnips or parsnips

any offal (I don't eat meat/chicken but I never LIKED offal.  steak and kidney pie.  barf).

All shellfish tastes the same to me and I don't like it.

    edit:  okra, fennel.

and someone said canned mushrooms - I agree those are gross.  If I listed all the canned stuff I don't like we'd be here all day!   I think the only canned veg that tastes ok are peas and corn and beans.  but jesus when I see spinach, asparagus, POTATOES, canned I want to barf. Who eats that stuff?

I totally agree. My first experience with asparagus was from DH's gma. She boiled them to death. I can't get past that texture/taste and it has been ruined for me.

I agree with this. I never liked asparagus or brussel sprouts when my parents made them, but I make some kick ass asparagus. And apparently southern style brussel sprouts. Yum.

  • bananas, oranges, cream cheese, white bread, any kind of meat or fish, cottage cheese.

I don't really like eggplant, but I will eat it in certain situations. Same with mushrooms, and zucchini.

I used to not eat a bunch of different things because I didn't like them as a kid, so now I make a point of re-trying foods every five years or so. By doing this I discovered I like artichokes, corn, cauliflower, beets, brussels sprouts, yogurt.

I can handle motz., mild cheddar, colby, swiss (basic cheeses)

I do not like most other cheeses and many smell horrible to me...limburger? ish.

  • I use to think I did not like brussel sprouts because I only ever had them made by my FIL and he did nothing to make them taste good. Then I had some made by a friend who usually can make anything taste delicious and I still hated them. I do however loooove asparagus and my kids would eat it every night if they could.

I roast mine. Asparagus gets a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper- sometimes a squeeze of lemon. It's great hot or cold.

Brussels sprouts get parboiled and then roasted with butter, salt and pepper- sometimes served with pistachio nuts.

My old roommate used to make brussels sprouts braised in cream sauce. A-MAZ-ING.

How can you not like anything braised in cream sauce?

he does asparagus just like auntie. The sprouts he cooks all kind of ways, but usually sautes them and then roasts them. It's in both the method cooked and spices used. Keep it simple, but make sure you use the salt and pepper to bring out the flavor.

  • Honestly, the only thing that I can think of is peas, and that is just peas out of the pod, I like snow peas. I think it is just the texture. Other than that, I can't think of anything. I am very adventurous with food and generally like everything that I try, even foods that most other people don't like, things like liver, game animals, even snake and crocodile. I love pretty much every fruit and veggie and those that I don't love, I like just fine. If nothing else, I'm an easy date, I'm happy with anywhere for dinner :)

  • Yeah, not a fan of brussel sprouts.  Don't like onions unless they are very well cooked (I'm also allergic to the raw juice) or Vietnamese bitter melon.  I don't like overly sweet things, like buttercream icing, sugar cereals or sickly sweet baked goods.  I always cut the sugar in my baked goods by half or so, and they taste just right to me.  But in general, I like almost anything.  I love to eat.

I like everything else you listed, and I LURVE liver, especially goose/duck liver (pate/fois gras... yes I am an evil carnivore)

  • Hmmmmmm... now I will have to try to make brussel sprouts.  My sister did something similar for Christmas, roasted with butternut squash and I still did not like them.  I didn't hate them, cleaned them off my plate, but did not like enough to make myself.
