Nickname for Damian?

Damian is the name I have always wanted to name a boy.  One of the prime reasons my husband vetoed it because it is a 3 syllable name and he can't think of any nicknames.  I've tried to come up with a nickname so I can at least get the name back on the table. But I can't think of anything at all.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

****BTW I completely disagree with my DH that our little guy needs a preset nn, but its important to him, so ...

    Only NN that comes to mind from my BIG Italian family is Dom! Whether you are Dominic or Damiano or Damian, the NN is always Dom....

    Thanks so much for the suggestion!! ... but I should have probably mentioned we are Irish - so the Italian nn wouldn't work for us.

    I like PP's suggestion of Ian, but I would use Ian as the full FN, and not use Damian. 

    TTC since June 2010.
    DX hypothyroidism, pituitary hyperfunction, and PCOS.
    On med/treatment break indefinitely. Not currently trying.

    Thanks for another option.  Unfortunately, my DH doesn't like Ian or Damo as a nn. Ugh. :-(

    Demi?  Not pronounced like Demi Moore, but like the unit of measurement.

    According to my husband, yes - because it is a 3 syllable name.  However, as I said in my OP, I completely disagree with him, but I'm trying to get this name back on the table and figured I'd see if anyone had any ideas that I hadn't thought of. 

    Unfortunately, he is still vetoing the name  - along with 13 other names that I said that I love or really like and would be happy to name our son. I can barely talk about naming him anymore without crying.
