I work in an office of about 30 people. I have told my boss and a few others that are closer to me. I am thinking about maybe doing it tomorrow....but then again, I may want to wait. I just had my appt yesterday and we saw our baby's heartbeat flickering away and all went well, so I am feeling a new wave of excitement. Curious when others will be telling?
Re: When is everyone telling their work?
Planning to wait until Feb to tell anyone at work - I'll be 11 weeks or further when I tell. As long as I'm not having morning sickness or any other symptoms that impact my ability to work I'm going to wait to tell.
I plan to tell management first and then a few weeks later the office staff.
it really all depends, although I want to wait as long as possible. However, I teach high school, and our class periods are 85 minutes long, and I'm worried I'm going to have to run out of class if m/s hits me soon. I'm also worried for my peeing to increase even more...but, luckily there's a student bathroom right across the hall, and always someone on duty. HOWEVER, I'm worried about these other teachers blabbing or gossiping.
Who knows...I guess it's all up in the air..
I have told 2 really close friends at work, and emphasized that the news isn't for public consumption (yet); however, it's nice to have a person or two who understands why i'm lagging a bit and eating so weirdly.
I have 2 jobs: my full-time, "grown up" job is with a TV station, and my part-time "fun job" is with a fantastic retailer of incredible clothing and general feel goodliness. I am planning on spilling the beans to my fun job at 12 weeks (in 2 weeks!) after passing through the first ultrasound and rolling into Third Trimester zone. I am then planning on sharing with my grown up job on February 1st, which is exactly 6 months before my due date.
I think a lot of it is dependent upon your workplaces norms, how long you plan on taking off, whether you're planning on returning, and what your process for finding a replacement or shifting the workload is during your time off
It seems like we're in the same scenario. I also teach high school, our periods are 75 minutes. I think I might not be able to hide my pregnancy from my department head long since we're very good friends. The guidance office is connected to my classroom and there is a bathroom but I'm afraid the secretary or guidance counsellors will catch on. I haven't had morning sickness yet but I'm nervous about running out of the classroom in a hurry. Also this is my first pregnancy but I know when I have the flu I am extremely loud when I get sick.....I hope I can be quiet.
Good luck!
