i think we are going to buy a membership. the annual fee + the amount they charge for allergy medication is the reason - those two purchases alone will save us a lot when it comes to buying that over the course of a year. however, if we are going to have a membership - i would like to use it for more than allergy meds.
what are the things that you buy most at costco? what is a better deal at costco than heb/target? we are a small family of three so i don't need 100 bottles of ketchup, etc.
Re: costco peeps
Baggies, trash bags, paper towels, TP, laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, and some go-to frozen foods we like to have on hand.
Oh, and their chicken salad is the bomb-diggity.
And when I get to be a full-time lush again, I'll prob buy cases of beer there.
Definitely use the coupons they mail out for things that you already buy. I'm not a coupon-er but they are really good.

carters PJs

we buy our meat there and divide it up to single servings in ziploc bags and freeze it. I think we save a lot that way.
I also buy sundries like tampons, deodorant, razors and toilet paper, plus other stuff like tin foil, ziploc bags, trash bags, etc. Also has great gifts on the holidays.

we signed up with a promotion like this link and got a bunch of free stuff. we did it thru the entertainment book a few months ago--not sure if they still have that same promo.
Ditto lots of the sundries other people listed, but they also have by far the best deal on K-Cups for our Keurig. Socks and underwear for DH, Sonicare heads,
I always get into trouble in the makeup/personal care products section. They've had several good deals on Stila makeup lately, some very well reviewed makeup brushes, and lots of different moisturizers and lotions. Back before I was doing the no 'poo thing I used to buy Bedhead shampoo and conditioner there, too.
The Costco amex card is wonderful - but only if you pay it off every month. I'm getting about $200 back just from that this year. Holla!
I love Costco. #1 reason: their customer service/return policy. #2: their selection. they have tons of organic products, great gifts, clothes, ETC.
Things I buy there:
Milk / Cage free eggs / Yogurt / frozen chicken breasts / hamburger meat / frozen fish / sea salt / organic EVOO / organic apples / sugar snap peas / grapes / to-go meals like chicken thai wraps and pizzas / all-natural chicken sausage / mexican beer assortment / cakes / cookies / frozen pizza / bread / flowers / clothes for me & the kiddos / batteries / toys / trash bags / cleaning supplies / frozen veggies / cat food / diapers / pull ups / wipes / baby shampoo / cottage cheese / shredded cheese / wine / windshield wipers / ceiling fans / bathroom fixtures / cell phones / contact lenses / glasses / photo cards / photo prints / stamps / garage door opener / TV / makeup ( I love their concealer & powder & lip gloss ) / cat litter / coffee / oatmeal / cheerios .... and the list goes on & on....
If you don't like your membership, I'm pretty sure that Costco will refund it (prorated for the months you've used.) We get: rotisserie chicken, salmon, cheese, Hawaiian sweet rolls, beer. Sometimes huge things of berries or tomatoes, razorblades, vitamins, black beans, toilet paper, paper towels, parchment paper, sponges. Plus the random things you didn't know you needed - toys, Carter's clothing, books, tools, etc. We got our Christmas cards from their photo department this year and checks too. It seems like I always spend at least $100 even if I just go in for 1 or 2 items.
I was there last week and they had this palette for $19.99! I've spent way, way, way too much on makeup lately so I passed it over, but from what I've heard it's pretty awesome.
