Re: Just curious SAHM vs WM (clicky)

  • I consider myself a SAHM, but I do nanny 2 days a week and work from home (8-midnight) 4 days a week.  I guess that makes me somewhat of a WAHM, but I don't require any outside childcare for Kate so I don't know if that counts or not.

Second time I've seen this but I don't know what it means...what's "MDO"?

  • Full time SAHM. Used to work prior to moving here (and having LO) from Boston. Wouldn't have it any other way!

This exactly, minus the 1/week babysitter.

MDO= mother's day out. It's a program that usually runs during the school year from around 9-9:30 until 1:30-2(ish). Depending on the age, kids go 2-4x a week.

  • I'm going to be a SAHM once we have our next baby (next month).  I'm currently a WOHM.  I do plan on working part time from home a few nights/weekends starting when our daughter is about 2 months of age.

  • I'm a part time WAHM, but I only work nights and weekends, so DH is here when I work.
  • I'm a part time WAHM primarily. I do go into the office one day a week. DD is in school and DS goes to daycare two days a week (one being my office day). I mostly work on his 2 days in daycare but I also have a flexible schedule so I often work at night after the kids are in bed.
  • Another part-time WAHM here.  I also work nights/weekends when DD is asleep.

  • I selected working mom - I work from home - but I work full time, consulting, 40+ hours a week w/ some travel and the kids go to daycare 5 days a week. So even though I work at home, the kiddos aren't here while I'm doing it.
  • I'm a SAHW now and will be a SAHM when baby comes in a few months.

  • I'm a SAHM. I wish I were a WAHM sometimes.
  • I'm a SAHM. I'd like to be a WOHM some days, but I think that's only because the last two and a half weeks have been really crazy. Both of my kids go to a MDO/Preschool three days per week. As long as I have that, I love being a SAHM. :)
  • I'm sort of... all of the above.

I have my daughter with me while I nanny FT, M-F, mostly in my own home. So I'm both WAHM/SAHM with that. I mean, I'm working but it's not a whole tone different than a mom with 3 kids during those hours.

I also have a hair salon/studio where I work 2 nights a week and Saturdays, which is also both WAH/WOH because I do the hair in the salon but the marketing/bookkeeping/etc at home.

  • I woth 3 days a week - I'm a special snowflake :)
  • I voted snowflake. I have a full-time job that I worked until DD#3 was born. I will go back to work sometime within the year just haven't decided when yet.

  • I work 2-3 days a week inside and outside the home as a massage therapist, but am a SAHM during the days and don't work at all in the last months and first few months of babies being born.
