s/o Toothbrushing - clicky poll

How often do you brush your child's teeth. Let's say under 5ish, but old enough that they actually do have teeth.

  • I voted once per day, but that just means that a toothbrush goes into her mouth once per day, not that she is actually doing much brushing every day.

  • Twice a day, when she gets dressed and at bedtime.  We're doing the brushing.  I brushed Jakob's teeth until he was 5 or so.

  • Ugh. You guys are making me feel inadequate! I refuse to even vote! FYI, the dentist told us that Leo's teeth look great. He actually said, "Clearly, the home care is good." I almost started laughing.

New Years Resolution: Brush every day. At least once. The kids actually like doing it so there is really no excuse.

  • We do all of the brushing for the most part; twice per day (DD is 3.5).  I use the motorized toothbrush (currently a Cars one) to keep her interested and get maximum cleaning out of it.  The regular toothbrush just didn't get the job done.  She's started wanting to do it after we're done, so we let her try to figure it out.  I don't trust her to do it herself at all at this point.

  • I should have voted other really.  With DS, 2 y8 m I do it once a day MOST days.  I do forget sometimes though and DH almost always forgets when he puts him to bed.  I have gotten much better about it in the past few months and it is pretty much ever night.

DD is 6 yo now. But, she was brushing her teeth 2x a day around 3.  We were doing it for her then, but she started doing it herself mostly around 4.  She also started flossing nightly around 5 yo. She is much better about it than I am actually.

It took awhile for me to get into the habit with Layna.   I have a routine to get her ready every day, getting her on the potty, dressed, brush her teeth and hair.  Then she's good to go.  Same thing at bedtime.

  • We do the brushing and then let him have a "turn" on his own. I voted for once per day--we do it after bath, while getting pajamas on, but occasionally we miss a day and if DH is in charge, the actual brushing that gets done is questionable.

  • DD (18m) brushes twice a day. When she wakes up, and at bedtime. How much brushing is actually accomplished is a different thing. She brushes back and forth the front top and bottom teeth, then the tops of her bottom teeth. The rest of the two minutes she chews on the toothbrush. I brush the tops and sides of the rest of the teeth about twice a week - when she lets me help her. She's very independent...
  • We do it at least 2 times a day, but sometimes H just goes in and get his brush and says his teeth are "eww" an wants to brush them :/ usually I he's bored :)

We both brush. H gets a go at it first then we take over.

  • We usually brush his teeth twice a day.  During his morning bath before he goes to MIL's house and then once at night.  I brush his teeth but he loves to be able to hold his tooth brush and chew on it.  Then when he's done he'll hand it back to me.
