Is anyone else still dealing with reflux? We just stopped prilosec (this is day 2) and yesterday was fine but today he has already thrown up twice.
We have an appointment next week with his GI but she already told me she would scope DS is the reflux came back. Has anyone's LO been scoped? How did it go?
Re: Reflux
I have the same question about the scope as I am wondering if we need a more official look at what's going on with DS lately.
DS is still on Zantac, 2mL 3x/day. He was doing great but recently has had a lot of issues again, perhaps related to teething and to cow's milk. We stopped cow's milk and things were better until he had a horrible night last night again and wouldn't sleep. We don't know what's going on with him--just plain sleep issues, reflux issues, teething, food intolerance, or something else entirely. He's super happy all day so it's not like he's having major issues, but he's had several nights of being up just crying and crying and not being able to get settled.
We've tried dropping one dose of Zantac but he always starts spitting up right away.
DD1: allergic to eggs & dairy
c/p 4/1/11
DD2: milk and soy protein intolerant, allergic to eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, bananas

We are still dealing with it as well. We tried weaning her around 9 months and it was a massive failure and we have actually had to increase the Prevacid doseage twice since then.
I have no idea when or if she will outgrow her reflux.
We've actually just started to wean her off of the Prevacid (3.5ml 2x a day) this past week. We've got her down to 1.5ml 2x a day and it's been good, so hopefully she doesn't need it anymore.
For those of you using Prevacid, is it prescription? Is it a pill or compound liquid? We started off with a dissolving pill but now the manufacturer doesn't make it anymore and getting the compound made is a PITA every month. But, I guess it's easier to wean that way slowly.
DS Prevacid is a prescription and it's a compound liquid. It is a PITA now since our pharmacy instated a new rule that any compound liquid has to be purchased before refilling. I have to go into the pharmacy pay for the prescription then pick it up at a later time, can no longer just call it in.
At least I'm not alone!
For those of you who have had a scope, how did it go? I am terrified of it.
We do the compound liquid. I know they get a bad reputation, but it works for us. The only bad thing is that we have to get a new prescription every 3 weeks or so. After that it just doesn't work as well and you can tell.
