Re: How was your long holiday weekend?

  • Friday I got Boston Market takeout (which Gray deemed the best meal ever. Alrighty.) L and I watched Crazy, Stupid, Love after the kids went to bed.

Saturday L bought us massages to end 2011. So, the kids went to childcare at the gym and we went to the spa and got massaged. Ahhh. After L and the kids took a nap, we went to the mall so the kids could buy Legos with their Christmas money and then we surprised them by going to Medieval Times. They LOVED it. It was fun to see how excited they were! :) Home to put together new Legos and the kids were in bed by 10. L and I watched the Adjustment Bureau, but I fell asleep around 11 and L woke me at 11:57 to see the ball drop. I was back asleep by 12:10. LOL.

Sunday we hung out at home almost all day. L took down the outside decorations while I reconciled the references in her dissertation. A friend and her son came over for a few hours so we could hang out and the kids could play. Went for Mexican for dinner and watched Larry Crowne after the kids went to bed.

Monday L slept in since she didn't feel well and then worked on the corrections to her dissertation. Went out to lunch and a weekly Target run. The plan was for the kids to watch a movie and go to bed early...but they didn't agree (probably because they were SO excited to go to school today!) :P We tried to watch One Day, but it was so slow we turned it off in favor of watching an old Brothers and Sisters.

  • Nice, lazy weekend.

We got early release on Friday, so a coworker and I went to see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I made pasta for dinner and we spent the evening lounging around reading.

Had a lazy morning on Saturday and then we ran out to Target and stopped to buy food and drinks for NYE. Our neighbors came over in the evening and we had a relaxed night eating random Trader Joe's appetizers as I pulled them out of the oven and drinking Grimaces and Champagne. (Jen had sparkling apple juice.)

On Sunday I took all the Christmas decorations down and did laundy. The tree was too dry to keep, so I put it outside and then spent a while cleaning up needles and the water I spilled trying to get it out of the house by myself Stick out tongue We had date night on Sunday night and had a great dinner out.

I was off yesterday too so we met a friend to see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (it was much better than the last two, but I can't wait until Jeremy Renner takes over for Tom Cruise). I spent some time sorting through keepsakes and papers, tossing some stuff and reorganizing others for the move. I need to tackle two more file boxes.

  • K has been sick for awhile and she isn't getting any better.  So Friday morning I took DD to a local children's science museum while K slept in.  DD and I ran a few more errands before heading home for nap time.  We then dropped DD off with a friend and went to a comedy show.  After the show we went out to eat.  The restaurant was really nice but K didn't want to stay there for the midnight champagne toast so we walked back to the car where we had an anticlimactic New Year moment.

Saturday, K still felt sick so I went to our friend's house to join them for breakfast and pick up BabyT*T.  We then spent the rest of the day cleaning the house and hanging out in pjs.

Sunday I got up early and started putting together a trampoline for DD.  Because K was feeling so sh!tty she had zero patience and kept getting frustrated with BabyT*T.  Around 3pm we finally managed to get out of the house to run some errands.

So all in all a pretty boring weekend.

  • Friday-  An errand/spend holiday girft card running aroung kind of day.  I love being married to a teacher and working as a substitute because we get a fantastically long holiday break.  We went over a friends house to play Xbox Kinect for the first time.

Saturday- We were sore from too much Xbox lol. Mostly a lazy day until we went over to a friends house for NYE.  It was a very chill sober evening and really love my group of ladies.

Sunday- We put away all the holiday decorations and loafed around some more.  Then we went grocery shopping for the work week.

Monday-  We got up made ourselves look cute and went on a day date.  We went to see War Horse and the to Ruby Tuesdays for dinner.  We were going to go for a ride but DW got really nauseous.  Felt better after about an hour so we just chit chatted and watched some DVR shows.

We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
  • we had a pretty decent weekend.

Friday we got released early so I brought Sprout to my gym for some sister-free time. I also got to go to the grocery and clean the house a bit before DW and the girls came home. We all headed to chuckie cheese (RB looooves this place now. ugh). It was crazy.

Saturday we had a playdate w/ my SIL and niece in the morning then we all went out to lunch at a great jewish deli.  The girls were so not into it though. Went home for naps. In the evening we bundled up and met my parents and brother for our capital's First Night activities.  Crafts, street performers, parade, and fireworks.  The kids did really well. They were asleep by 8 and the mommies by 10 :)

Sunday we had a nice lazy morning before heading over to my parents' house for brunch.  After brunch we went on a hike in the woods behind their house and the kids had a blast.  It was a beautiful, mild day so it was lovely to get some fresh air.  We even walked through the spot where we hope to have their adoption party one day :)  In the afternoon the kids went down for rest and I spent a couple hours cleaning out the van - I mean a full cleaning with taking out the car seats and everything.  it was work but definitely needed and the results were well worth it.  That night we did appetizers for dinner and a movie night.

Monday DW worked.  Daisy was teething and consipated and miserable.  If she wasnt being held or strapped to me, she was screaming.  I felt bad for my peanut, but it was draining.  also, she's 25+ lbs so after 3 hours straight of wearing her while also caring for 2 other kids, i was exhausted. Finally my parents picked up Sprout for a hockey game (that never was...read the schedule wrong...so they ended up seeing a movie) and DW came home.  We did a target run followed by a quiet night at home.

  • Sigh...not ready to be back in the grind yet.

Friday: I took the day off to do chores at home and get the window in my car replaced since it was broken into last Wednesday. My friend called and her gf begged me to come to a NYE event with them.

Saturday: I took down the tree and took the lights off the outside of the house and did a few other chores at home. I decided to be social and go to the party with my friends and their boys ages 10 and 15 and the older boy's gf. It was good to see my friends but the party was meh. The event was billed as family friendly and there were a handful of kids but my friend described the crowd as "older hippies"...not exactly our scene. I slept on my friend's couch so as not to drive home with the drunk people.

Sunday: My friend and I grabbed breakfast at a diner near her house and had some one on one time to chat which was nice. Afterwards I hit the mall and picked up the toolbox I've been wanting for the few tools I have and some new pillows at a macy's sale. Then I was home to make some food for us to eat this week.

Monday: E's dad called late morning and said he wanted to drop her off with me in the evening since he needed to be at work early this morning. Fine with me since I missed my baby girl and it's been a lot of back and forth with the holidays! I hit the bulk store and the grocery for a few things. E proudly showed off her aquarium to her dad when he dropped her off. Then it was bath and bed to prep for going back to school today!
