NBR: how do you spell the sad-trombone sound?

My sister spells it "whomp-whomp-whomp," which I'm pretty sure is not correct at all.
Dear Bump: You suck.

    Without a doubt, this.
  • I could be suuuuper technical (being a music teacher) and say there would never be a "mp" at the end of a wind instrument sound.  Or at least, there never *should* be.  Although I'm pretty sure that it is a trombone with a plunger mute, so I guess the "mp" sound could be superficially created by the mute.  Is that too technical?  Wink

I'm a "wah, wah, waaaahh"  person.  And I'm pretty definite that there are three of them, which ever way you prefer it.
