D.C. Area Folks

I arrive Wednesday afternoon and begin my internship on Thursday morning!

For the first part of my stay, I'll be in Bloomingdale (thanks, TT for the connection!) Then in Cathedral Height for the last part. I'll have late afternoons and most weekends free. This is only my second time in D.C. and I'll be there for a month so I'm feeling excited (and overwhelmed about so many unknowns).

Please let me know if you:

  1. are interested in meeting up (please remind me if we had a date/time/place in the works)
  2. have suggestions of things I must see/do during the month
  3. would be willing to receive an email/PM/call for random D.C. survival questions

YES! I am happy to meet for dinner sometime. I can do most any week night aside from Wed/Fri since L typically works late or is writing those nights (plus I am already in the city for work!) :) And there was talk of meeting Norika and her family (and whoever else) at the B'more Science Museum on 1/28.

Of course do the Smithsonians. You could spend all weekend/every weekend you are here doing that alone! :) I have heard the Newseum (on the mall, but not part of the Smithsonians (so not free!)) is awesome (L and I are going next month.) I've done the Spy Museum - and while others love it, neither L or I thought it was all that great. The Crime and Punishment Museum opened recently, but I have no desire to go to that.

If you want to go to the oldest lesbian bar in the country, it is here in DC (Phase One.) I've only been 1x (when I took the coming out group that I was facilitating for their first lesbian outing. LOL.) The Washington Blade and Metro Weekly are the gay papers that you can find at most Metro stops if you are looking for gay specific stuff.

Here is the Washingtonian (DC magazine) best cheap eats for 2011. https://www.washingtonian.com/sections/restaurants/cheapeats/index.html

  • i love this board. that is all :)
  • 1.  I will be in the Brookland area for school during the week (so if you are anywhere near by). I am always up for a cup of coffee with a fellow Bumpie.

    2.  Definitely the museums.  We get random awesome days in the DC metro area 60 degrees + and on those days I would try to catch the oudoor type sight seeing.  Remember to pack varying degrees of layers for your trip.  I was literally wearing a T-shirt and jeans last week and am wearing a hoodie, fleece, and coat now.

    3.  Absolutely feel free to shoot me a text, call, or email.  I will PM you my info.  I grew up in the area and know Maryland really well and DC ok.

We had three BFN in the Fall of 2011. It is back on to some baby making come June. Swim little fellas, SWIM!!!!
