Hi all, I'm a FTM currently living in North Austin, but my husband and I are thinking about moving to RR (but he will continue to work in North Austin). I am trying to find an affordable but decent child care center in the area for after my little one is born. I will have to go back to work FT so he/she will be about 12 weeks or so when its time put them in a center. Does anyone have any recommendations for centers or an easier way to find centers? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Re: Child care in North Austin/Pflugerville/Round Rock areas
We picked a Chil dren's C ourt yard in N. Austin right near where I work. It's close enough that I have been able to go nurse my kiddos during my lunch break and pop in for a pick-me-up play date on rough days at work.
Go and visit any potential centers. Even different locations of a single chain will have a different feel/vibe, so it's important to find one where you mesh with the teachers, feel comfortable, etc.
Are we at the same daycare maybe? I absolutely love this place. It's a little pricier than some of the other options out there, but I think it's worth every penny. We started out at a different place and we weren't happy at all. I have nothing but good things to say about this one.
Anyhow, when I first started looking for a daycare, I started out looking at the DPFS site, made a list of the ones I was interested in, and then visited a bunch of them, usually over lunch breaks. Going in person will get you the best feel for them, although you can do a lot of the research in advance (we crossed out anything that didn't work with our schedules or commutes, or that had a lot of violations as per the DPFS site). It can be overwhelming, but when it came down to it, we only had 1 or 2 at the top of our list. GL!
