So, this is still a work in progress, but I thought I'd share since I had asked for some advice here. Also, I told someone I'd take a pic of the advent thing, but never did because I was trying to finish up the numbers for them. I guess that won't get done until next year! I took some pics before I took it down.
And the basement, I still have some things to figure out and finish. The couch came with two of the wrong colored cushions. I made the pillow covers, and the canvases were from a session this fall. I still need to figure out what to do on the windows. It is hard with that ledge thing all around the room because I'm not sure I can really put up drapes, although I feel like it needs something like that to make it a bit more cozy. I ended up not painting because I wanted to see how it looked first before I went through all that work. I don't mind the paint down there, but I still think I'd like to paint it something with a little less yellow in it.
I found the tv stand locally. It is 100 year old dresser. My husband framed out where the top drawer was and then I painted it. I like how it turned out, although I wish I hadn't primed it because I did not want the white to show through...lesson learned, I guess.
The play area still needs work. I have a large alphabet project planned to hang above the storage shelf area, and then on the wall above the kitchen I'm going to be making a random photo wall of lots of snapshots that I love and some of the kids' artwork. I'd also like to put a play table in center, but I'm not sure because it is nice having the open area for setting up big toys like the Geotrax. Anyway...thank for looking!
Re: pip basement makeover and felt advent thing
Why are you so awesome at everything you do??
Gorgeous (as usual)!
Thanks, mamarazzi. I am not so awesome at decorating. I have been stressing about what to do down here for months, and it is taking me forever to figure it out. Ask j*w*.
Seriously! It looks great, and how perfect is that ledge for canvases? Love it!
Beautiful and where di you order your picture prints from? what is it specifically called - mounted?
Love the advent thing!!!!
And I think we looked at that same couch tonight. I love it...DH does not. He doesn't like the squared sectionals....I think the curved ones look like from the 80's. Buying furniture for our basement may cause a divorce! LOL. We are going BACK to the furniture store tomorrow (we've spent about 10 hours at the store the past 3 days...GAH!)

Thanks, girls!
D&R - That is funny. The reason we have lived here almost six years and just now got rid of the ugly, old college furniture is because we could never agree. So, he decided to go hunting for a long weekend and I went furniture shopping. I loved this one because it is super comfy, yet not puffy (which is what my husband likes because to him puffy = comfort, I guess). And guess what? HE LIKES IT! He even complimented me on everything without me asking what he thinks, which says a lot. haha
Cooker - I would love to. Plan on me staying with you for about 6 months to obsess and figure everything out. LOL!
HA. I've got a guest room. That can easily be stocked with what you would need.

For the record, in those 10 hours we HAVE decided on new carpet and a new TV stand....but the couch will be the death of someone...lol
DH is ALL about the biggest, fluffiest couches...our basement is NOT big at all. The furniture store is HUGE, so the couches that I think will fit, DH thinks are too small. I keep pointing out that the ones he wants have special tags that say "measure before you buy!" they are huge and will completely FILL our basement.
Plus, he wants cheap. I don't think its a good idea to buy the cheapest (because even the cheapest is expensive!)..I'd rather spend a few hundred more and get something that will still look good in a few years.
GAHHHHH!
I'm sooo over furniture shopping. We have one more date tomorrow night..my parents are watching the kids...and either we pick a couch or we find a lawyer! LOL
That's pretty good, I guess. My biggest problem is I think I know how it's going to come together, but he just can't see it.
Oh, I hear ya! It doesn't help that every salesman we saw was a man and took us right to the ugliest, most exensive couches, complete with recliners, coolers for your beer, and reading lamps.
Well, good luck tomorrow!
LOVE the tv cabinet!!!
Great job!
I agree - you are great at alot : )
I love it. It looks so pretty. Now I want to change up my basement. LOL. see what you started : )
