It's late, I can't sleep, and all I can think about are the things I haven't bought yet but might need. I've heard different opinions on wipes warmers....is this important? I also plan to BF, but will also pump....when should I get a bottle warmer and what kind is best?
Re: Wipes warmer/bottle warmer?
I love our Avent bottle warmer! I've heard some of the other ones burn/melt bottles. We've never had that problem. I would get a bottle warmer, you never know when you may want it and there is no telling when you'll go from EBF to pumping. Babies R Us usually has coupons periodically for them, and you can use the 20% off mailers.
Wipes warmers I think are silly, but this is JMO. I think LO needs to get used to cold wipes for when you leave the house (though now they make travel warmers too, so idk). DS never was "bothered" with cold wipes.
Good luck!

we were given a wipes warmer for DD. While I liked it, we didnt buy a new one for this LO. Not really much need.
I figure, warm bum wipes are great at home, but then what about the diaper bag wipes? get her used to warm wipe at home and cold bum in public? Naw.... just have room temp wipes all the time. No big deal.
I've been told to not get a wipe warmer. I think they are silly anyways and a waste of money. If you use one and they become accustomed to always having a warm wipe at home, they're more likely to cry when they have to have a cold one while they're out of the house. My LO cried a couple of the first times I used a wipe, but she got used to it very quickly. She's just now 12 days old. I'd say by day 5 we were golden on no crying during changes, although every baby will react differently.
I originally wanted a bottle warmer, but didn't receive one at my showers and honestly, there's not much point to it now. If you breastfeed, you won't really need one. If you pump, you can keep breastmilk at room temperature for four hours and don't necessarily need to heat it. So you can use one bottle for first half of night, and another for second half. If you use formula, you most likely will have to get up to get it out of the kitchen anyways and premixed formula bottles need to be in the fridge. Unless you plan on having water, formula mixture, and the bottle warmer all right next to you going to bed. I personally would not be comfortable with that, but these are the thoughts that occurred to me now that I have an outside baby that have kept me from buying one. I know some people do find it very useful though, so to each their own.
No wipe warmer here. I figure I won't always be home when LO needs to be changed so she better get used to room temp/cool wipes.
I was given a travel bottle warmer that plugs into the lighter in the car but I'm not sure how much use it will get. I plan to BF so LO won't be getting many bottles. The few bottles she does get will most likely be heated in the microwave. I know everyone says you're not supposed to do it that way but my little sister's bottles were always heated in the micro w/out any issues. We just stuck the bottle in w/out a lid/nipple and then after it was warm put the nipple on and shook it up (while pinching the nipple so formula wouldn't go everywhere) to eliminate any hot spots.
My brother swears by the bottle warmer as the greatest invention ever. He says that the first time you have a screaming baby and are trying to get a bottle ready and don't have enough hands, it becomes worth its weight in gold.
Someone gave us a wipe warmer that I couldn't return so I set it up in the nursery. A girlfriend of mine says she has found hers really helpful for middle of the night changes when you don't want the baby to wake all the way up. We will see.
We won't be buying either. I don't want her to get used to warm wipes since it's not like she'll only need to be changed at home. LIFE IS HARD. She has to learn that now
I also plan to BF, so a bottle warmer isn't really a necessity for the one-two bottle feeds she'll have a day.
